OK, I didn’t find an existing thread on this so here is a thread on the Suburban and Panel truck SPID labels. Post the label from your Burb or Panel on here.

I will start off with mine and the ones I have found in some of the old posts on here.. Unfortunately all you can read on mine is the VIN…:(

No guarantee that there won’t be duplication on this.

Here is my hard to read, dirty SPID, from my "new" 1971 K20. Any insight on what the "Heavy Front Spring" option would look like? The guy I bought it from said he "put in new springs" before I bought it so I am wondering if he knew what he was doing or not. The rear has 7 leafs but the front has only 3...

Post #10 has the unidentified A53 Rear seat option listed.

Hey Chewie. Does that say "Dome light switch"?

Yes, HD spring has an extra leaf.

Yes. It says Dome Lamp Switch.

So in the front end how many leafs should there be with the heavy option?

Thanks!

Here is the original post on that transcribed SPID, considering it was never presented as a picture and poster admitted the VIN might be a mistake I would treat it as an AS3 (wide center and only rear seat). If it was a fleet/Gov't that makes sense as a crew and cargo hauler.

Actually not Dale. I just went through all of the old threads on here the other day and and copied them. Then started this thread and pasted them in it... It took a few hours, but I was bored.

Here is a SPID from a 1972 C20 Suburban. I bought the front clip of this truck this weekend in Massachusetts. The guy selling it said that the rest of the truck was in bad shape and got crushed. The bumper from the truck had NH plates on it. Sad to hear he crushed it as from what I was told I missed out on a bunch of parts. :waah:

I don't think so unless you are lucky enough to find a build sheet under the seat. Get your mirror out and take a look in the seat springs underneath......

No not on US spec vehicles. GM Canada can document Canadian delivered trucks though.

The stock front springs have 2 leafs. The HD have 3 leafs.

The stock rear springs have 5 or 6 leafs, the HD springs 7 leafs. hope that answers your question.

The SPID in our 1972 Suburban Custom Deluxe 10. Somebody cut off all the important stuff on the 69's SPID, so I am judging it off by what I can see.

Here's the SPID for a '72 I picked up today. It looks suspect to me, may be a repop. This thing is loaded, what's the deal with the air cleaner?

Here are some pics Ol' Blue. It has been modified a bit. In it's day this was probably the ultimate river bound boat hauler.
