Strange VIN?

I've got a 63 C10 that has been in my family for almost 30 years. It's in AZ & I am in Iowa. My dad is trying to get a duplicate title for it because he lost the original who knows how long ago. The truck hasnt been registered since 01 (?). He went to the DMV & they told him that the truck has never existed in their system & they can't issue him a title. My question is, can anyone decode this vin? It's been on the truck since the 1st time I saw it (92) & hasn't ever been tampered with but when I try to look it up, I can't find any info on the 6th digit. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks! VIN# 3c1440102391

After a little further digging, I'm finding that the O is for Oakland. Is this true? Thanks

This is what I found...others can chime in and let me know if I'm wrong. They should be able to do a VIN# check or history at your local DMV office. I just went thru something similar like this today with a 55 Chevy car. It's a pain. My VIN# on the car didn't match the title.....ohh boy!

That's how I would have interpreted it, off the top of my head. (Plant code is an alpha character "O", not a zero).

Right...must've had tunnel vision. Meant to put an "O" and not a "0" LOL!!

Now starts the debate haha! I vote O for Oakland. Oshawa vin marking is “1” I believe. Try this vinwiz.com vin decoder for our older trucks.
I have a 63 C50 also has O and definitely not built in Canada eh!
Just make sure when you go to DMV they know it’s a letter O not a Zero. Maybe thats why it didn’t come up in their system

This matches what my book says, Letter 'O' for Oakland and number '1' for Oshawa, ON
