Power steering id
4 Attachment(s)
I am trying to replace the idler arm and pitman arm on a 65 c10 with power steering conversion. I am not sure which one to order because I am not sure what year truck the power steering came from and am hoping someone can help.
Can anyone tell from the pictures? |
Re: Power steering id
Sorry the pics are sideways.
Moog K6131 shows 69-72 and k6143 shows 73-86 for pitman arm. The idler doesn't look like the one I see on their site. They show 1 that is straight with grease fitting on top for 1965 and the one on my truck is bent and grease fitting is on the side. Newer ones (k6096t)don't have the bar to mount to the frame. |
Re: Power steering id
It is really impossible to say just what year steering box was used by just looking at pictures. If the pump is any indication, that is a '73+ pump. The idler arm does look a little odd. What I can see of the bracket on the frame it is typical of a '63-'66 idler arm bracket. I didn't think it was possible to change the idler arm separate of the mounting bracket.

Re: Power steering id
Would casting numbers on the Steering Gear Box help?

Re: Power steering id
I do not have any reference to look up steering box castings.

Re: Power steering id
I will probably just buy both and return the one that looks different. Hopefully I can find them locally.

Re: Power steering id
I would have no problem buying either of those those locally.
