chassis saver paint?
Those of you that have used Chassis Saver on your frame, how did you like it? and would you use it again? any tips besides not to get it on your skin?
THANKS |
Re: chassis saver paint?
I use it. It is just like POR15. (moisture cured urethane) I always use it over sandblasted surfaces. I like to spray it. When I do, I wet down the booth floor with hot water to get the humidity up. This speeds up the dry time, so I can spray the second coat coat with almost no waiting. No complaints. If you spray any other paint on top of it, you must start spraying it while the Chassis Saver is still tacky, for good adhesion.

Turp, what kind of paint do you spray on for a topcoat?

Re: chassis saver paint?
I've been using a Sherwin Williams product called Sunfire. It is a urethane that is very durable, and even resistant to brake fluid. The can is labeled as semi gloss, but it ends up being very close to the factory satin black finish. You can spray anything you want over the chassis saver.
I'm going to try the paint line by Bill Hirsch. They offer most of the same product line as POR, but considerably cheaper. All of that marketing that POR does, adds to the cost. |

Re: chassis saver paint?
Make sure you read all the safety precautions, this type of paint is high in ISOSYONATES(SP). Most respirators will not protect you from these chemicals. Ron
