2 to 4 Wheel Drive Conversion?

I am looking at an 06 3500 4x2 truck.. its cheap. However I really need 4x4.

My question is has anyone done a 4x2 to 4x4 conversion on one of these? I have a 06 4x4 parts truck, but with the wrong frame setup, so I have almost all the parts. A quick look shows all the parts appear to bolt up, but I wasn't sure...

Thanks in advance!

I researched this thoroughly when I had a 2002 2500HD 8.1L 2wd. You won't find anything on the internet except for a couple of solid axle swaps and one guy on a forum who said he did it. I came to the conclusion that if you had a nice complete parts truck that yes it could be done. There was one tab that needed to be welded, most everything else is bolt-up. Your original Alison trans can even be fitted with the correct parts. You will have wiring, PCM, TCM, and programming also. As for everything in between, guess you will have to dive in and find out?

There are so many good deals on 4x4 trucks of this era, it seems like it would be a waste of time and money to do a conversion.

There aren't any "rare" optioned trucks that are worth converting in this day and age. So I'd just hold out and save some cash and find a solid 4x4 truck.
