Bumpstops on PB front Dropmember
 

How are you guys putting bumpstops on the front of your Porterbuilt Extreme dropmembers? I'm using PB arms and would like to do this for my son's truck as added safety in case there is a bag problem on the front. Thanks in advance.

Hart_Rod, I think you gonna have to creative. once you invent it, others like myself can follow your trail. have you thought about call PB? since its there product im sure they make something work for you. also, I would love to see more pics of you sons truck. his truck is definitely better than mine. all I can say is my kids wont be in daycare an college forever.

I don't think there is a Porterbuilt product to answer your issue.
You will have to build something.

The Extreme Dropmember is designed to air out the frame on the ground.
(unless you have a very tall wheel/tire combo)

Limiting the front drop could be as easy as making a plate to go between the Dropmember upper bag mount and the bag.
Add an adjustable/ threaded hole in this plate.
Use a bolt to dial in the length of your bumpstop.
Then fabricate the bumpstop.
I have used an Energy Suspension short bumpstop,... mounted to an aluminum spacer.

The key will be finding a spot for the bumpstop to contact the lower a-arm,... that won't interfere with the bag, wheel, or steering linkage.

This is a very crude job with "paint".
The bumpstop could be mounted to the lower a-arm or to the new bag plate.
Also could be mounted on the rear side of the bag.
You will have to find the best spot.

I don't have any pics on my iPad but how Keith drew it is exactly how I did mine. I used 1" angle iron with piece of small pipe and a nut welded in the bottom. Then screw the bump stop in. Two bolts into the upper hat. I can try to get a pic if anyone would like to see. It's primitive, but effective

I have the bumpstop supplied by ride tech with my air bag set up and I have already destroyed four of them. the design has an aluminum spacer with a bolt in bumpstop however when aired out where it hits it seems like it his the edge of the lower ball joint in fact I have been stranded a couple of times as the inner fender is sitting on the tire. I have the truck in my shop now for a few days working on it and this is on my list of things to upgrade or re design. The tubular control arms I have are also from ride tech so you would figured that everything would work perfect but this bumpstop deal does not. I will post pictures tomorrow.

Here you go rob. I just drilled holes in the front of the upper bag hat and adjust by shaving a little rubber off. Ugly I know but it works
