can u repair body panals that were on fire ?
im thinking of buying a 66 truck that has doors , a fender and some stuff i need , but it had a cab/engine fire . the doors are burnt on the top half , it seems to have burnt the paint off and the top of the pass. fender was burnt , will there be any problems refinishing the panels , i woulf like to know before i buy .

Refinishing shouldn't be a problem.
Consider that panels are welded, shrunk and reworked on a lot of vehicles before painting. |

"Burned" is a relative term.
As long as the structural integrity of the metal has not been compromised,as in burnt to a crisp "burned",you'll have something usefull.If it was really "toasted",I'd look for better parts. |

I'd watch out for fuel/engine compartment fire damage because those burn hotter. I've seen a few burnt cars at salvage yards, and the ones that are shells are distorted and warped, but small fires that were out quick were structurally sound.

I would think that if only the tops of the doors burned, it may have been put out quickly. I would think you would be able to see or feel if it were warped. But, yes, sand it, prime it, and go!
