Timing marks on passenger side?

Built a mid/late 70s truck 350 and dropped it into my 69 longhorn. Set initial timing and started it. Hit it with the timing light, low and behold, the timing mark on the balancer is on the passenger side, while my timing cover marks are on the drivers side. So I dialed it in by ear and have been driving it but it feels gutless... Is something wrong, or is this just an uncommon thing?

Just mismatched parts.

Look here for info and how to correct it.

Is it so far advanced that it's showing the line on the balancer on the passenger side? What does the light say after you set it by ear?

Nice thanks for the link. No when I turn it, it will move an inch and then ping

sounds like the advance could be stuck inside the distributor or the vac line is still connected
