I just got a 1999 Chevy K3500 Crew Cab Classic

Hi everyone, I used to be on this board years ago when I had a 79 GMC C15 Sierra Grande that I was restoring but I left the board when I sold it. I just bought a 99 Classic and I thought I'd check in again. I posted in the 99-07 first but they said I should come here since it's a Classic.

I tried to post pictures but for some reason I get an error. I posted pictures here.

Looks nice. It's a copy of my truck only mine has a 454 and it's one of those you have to fix most everything on first you were talking about lol.
The doors more than likely need the latches and rods cleaned and lubed. It takes a little time, but not to bad. Just get them out so you can clean all the gunk and dirt out.
You plan on painting it or leave it as is?

Thanks for the reply. The guy I bought it from had replaced a couple of the door handles already, it even came with one extra inside passenger latch. I am having an issue with the auto door locks not working on the front passenger and rear driver doors. I watched a YouTube video on how to replace the motors, doesn't look too hard, it looks like they run $180 each though.

Going through cleaning and lubing the inner workings is a great idea, thanks. I haven't decided if I'm going to paint it or not. All of the GM trucks I looked at from that era had the same issue, they must have used bad paint or something. I spend a lot of time on dirt roads and don't really care how the outside looks. But that said, I don't want it rusting. On the fence still.

I just put a new Sony radio in it after work today, happy to be getting rid of the stock radio and really glad to have blue tooth.

What are uou getting for MPG with that 454? I'm getting around 12.

350's and 454's are almost the same in these type of trucks. Big blocks use gas, and the 350 uses just as much cause there is a lot of truck to get moving. I personally wouldn't want a truck like that with the 350, IMO it's overworking it, not including any type of towing or hauling. Nice truck tho, wish they were that clean out here.

Thanks for welcoming me.

B454rat; I get what you're saying but so far I think the 350 is handling pretty well. I sold my Tacoma to buy this because I've been building a slide in camper and it was getting too heavy for the Taco. I've only had the camper in the back of this truck for a week now but it seems to do just fine, even on hills. That said I had that camper in a Taco with a 3.4L before this so the 350 is a big jump. Anyways, thanks for the input.

Here's a couple of pictures of the camper on the truck. I need to move the rear mounts back and I'm really wishing the camper was two feet longer but other than that I'm pretty happy with it.
