any ideas where to start ? I don't have a wiring diagram....please help...thanks

I figured it out, it was a bad headlight switch.

Just my 2 cents worth. On my 65 Suburban, when I didnt have dash lights I didnt have taillights either due to a blown fuse. Not sure if its the same with your 74. Glad you figured it out
