Reproduction Seat Belts?
Does anyone sell a quality set of parchment repop seat belts for our Blazers and Jimmys? I have Googled, searched Classic Heartbeat, GMC Paul's and all of the other big parts vendors and can't come up with a source. I have my original set, which looks horrible, and the cost of having them remade at one of the places that specializes in that service is blood-chilling. And to add to the fun, I have 3 sets of belts in my back seat.

Re: Reproduction Seat Belts?
My parchment belts were filthy but cleaned up nicely with bleach spray cleaner, water and a stiff nylon brush. Lots of scrubbing and rinse water but I am happy with the results.

Re: Reproduction Seat Belts?
I tried too but with less success, mainly because mine have rust marks on them. I used bleach and Oxy-Clean and they did lighten up a lot, but still look cheesy on my restored truck.

I was looking at these:

CLR maybe on the rust?

Re: Reproduction Seat Belts?
I searched and searched for my 72 suburban. I only found black. Every other color is not original looking.

Re: Reproduction Seat Belts?
I gave up searching for NOS or repops and sent my original set off to Ssnake-Oyl in TX for a very expensive makeover. I don't have them back yet but will post pictures when they return.

Re: Reproduction Seat Belts?
I'm okay with buying black belts. I think i'm going to change the webbing to orange to match my paint (yes, i'll deviate a bit from original).
Any recommendations for where i can buy original looking black hardware for front buckets and back bench for a 72 jimmy? I dont want to modify my original parchment seatbelts (keeping them around in case i want to go back to stock look). I plan to send them out to a vendor that has the right color orange for webbing for my jimmy. Pointers (with links) would be super helpful! |
Re: Reproduction Seat Belts?
I'm having a company called Python Restoration out of Texas do my parchment seatbelts right now as I'm writing this. Stewart is the owner and he is a great guy but he's very busy and it isn't cheap. I will certainly post up pictures when I get the belts back from him. As far as I'm concerned, it's the only way to go.

Have you looked here:
http://www.seatbeltstore.com/product-p/ju6772ct.htm It's where I got mine, for my truck. I believe you can ask for samples. And I like that you can get GM metal buckles, |
Re: Reproduction Seat Belts?
I'm thinking about ordering from these guys: https://www.seatbeltsplus.com/product/HL205P.html
Just ordered samples from them. |

Just south of a grand and they turned them around in about two months.

Re: Reproduction Seat Belts?
I would say money well spent with the new webbing and all. Especially if they are for a total restoration. Very nice.

Of course my belts are for a 73-87 truck, but when I changed my interior color from Maroon to Charcoal, it was nearly impossible to find OEM seatbelts. So I ended up doing aftermarket belts instead. Since then, I have found some OEM Charcoal belts. I will send them in for a quote. I'm glad I happened across this thread. It would be nice to have the original belts back in the truck.
