15" tires are getting too hard to find! Thinking about going to 20's. Anybody know which OEM wheels bolt right up to a K5 (1972)? Pictures woukd be awesome. Lots of (cheap) takeoffs out there, so knowing what works without modification makes searching easy. Also, anybody have 20" Torq Thrusts on their 4x4?

I've noticed that there are fewer offerings out there for 15's, but I think they'll always be available. To each their own, but I'm a Goodyear man so as long as they keep making 15" tires, I'll stick with the 15 x 8 GM truck rally's, which I think look like they were made for these trucks.
There are so many wheels to choose from, but I think our bolt pattern is for 5 lugs: 5 x 50in (5 x 127mm) and 6 lugs are 6 x 5.50in (6 x 139.7mm).

Don't you go cussing my 15s! :cool: I think 15s are worth looking for. There may be less offered, since new vehicles got goofy with wheel diameters, but I don't see the good tire companies dropping them anytime soon. But if you must change, why not go 16-17 since those are plentiful, not far off, 16" and 16.5 were original options, and they'll look better than hoola hoops. Oh yeah, almost forgot. To each their own.

What size 15 you looking for? Most are available within a couple of days for the tire size you are looking for.

I posted about a month ago about finding goodyear wrangler 31x10.5x15 at walmart on rollback for $74...may have to search but they seem to be a good tire.

That's a great price for that tire. I don't really trust the knuckleheads at my Wal-Mart to install my tires but what a great price!

15s will continue to be available through specialty tire stores (Coker, diamond back etc), but continue to be phased out every year, at least in LT sizes. Stick to 16s or 17s, the 18-20s look too big for the 67-72 wheel wells, even with rubber band tires.

I'm looking at 15" tires right now. Typically I go with BFG ATs but I'm not thrilled with the current style as regards a vintage look. Am leaning toward a Goodyear Wrangler. Anyone else have a tire suggestion for 15" wheel on a 4wd?

BFG AT's are my tire of choice. Recently had to buy 2 new ones. 15's were more expensive than 20's and not in stock. A pair was found at another store and had to be transferred. Used to be you couldn't throw a lug wrench without hittin a 15" tire. I destroyed one in a small town once and the ony 15 I could find was a used 30" street tire.

I like those 7-spoke Nissan wheels, but they seem only available in 17". The 20's are a 6 spoke :(

How are people having a hard time finding tires for 15s?

I just googled BFG ATs and they come in 31x10.5r15 for less than $180 each.

Going from 15s to 20s seems like a giant leap for someone not motivated by looks, but by "tire availability". I would expect someone looking to save money to buy a 17.

Also, your bolt pattern is 6X5.5 which means pretty much any chevy truck wheel should bolt right up since AFAIK they haven't changed their bolt pattern, offsets vary though.

I tried to use a spare from a 2006 Tahoe. Didn't fit: bolt pattern was 6x5.75.

In a city as big as Houston, so many MORE cars use something other than 13, 14, or 15. What sells is what they keep around.

Yea I definitely wouldn't be looking for small wheels in a metropolis where no one uses them, but you can still order a set. That is a product of living in the city, not the tires overall availability.

Out here in Oregon (not Portland) the local tire shop has stacks of ??x??r15s sitting around just waiting to be mounted.

The Tahoe was a 4x4. Just didn't line up. Maybe that didn't originally go with that truck... it was a company truck with 235k. Who knows what was done with it

The center hole is not big enough for the front axle on most of the modern wheels.
