This truck is fun for my dad. He will have something to tinker with as he nears retirement. He have been driving it to work daily. So we are finding bugs an trying to work them out.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b2...CST-10/009.jpg

1st bug turned out to be crud in the tank. Motor ran fine at idle. So after a fuel pump an fooling with the carb it turned out to be the crud got into the main jets.

Now the truck aint perfect ...... the frame an suspension an all gone thru an painted along with most of the body. The bed, motor an interior need attention.

Its a bit of a custom with the 67 bed an frontend.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b2...CST-10/007.jpg

Nice list of options it has. We need to get the A/C going. Find a tilt column. Continue the clean up of the interior an motor.

Awesome looking truck man. What size tires are those? how much has it been lowered? I just bought a 69 and I really like the stance of your dad's truck.

Dad should be very well pleased with the new truck.

Re: My Fathers C-10

My Dad is loving having something to tinker with.

The tyres are 245 60 15 fronts an 275 60 15 rears.

We believe its a 4/6 drop. The rear frame is c-notched.

The driveline is back in an he drove it to work today. Still have a shimmy an shake but could be a number of thangs yet. Tyres may be out of balance an we had noticed the right rear wheel is bit wobbly. The rims are Keystones an we have store a few miles from us. Just getting the time to get over there is holding us up.

We been outside tooling around on the trucks. The driveline is in an working fine.

We had noticed the left rear brake wanting to lock up. Pulled the drum an the adjuster was frozen. Problem solved !

Killer old school vibe! I'd be all over it. Clean it up and whatnot, but don't change a damn thing!

Me Dad has gotten a lot done the last couple of weeks. We need to twist his arm to get him to tell us on his own !

I got one pic of a new room mate for his C-10

Pulled the 85 C-10 out of the garage to make ready for a family member to buy it from us.

Does it still have the tach? And the 400 engine?

Tinkermc 06-09-2012 09:50 PM

Re: My Fathers C-10

you need a bigger garage rather than selling inventory

Yes it still has the tach but nothing going to it yet, but the 400 is gone repleased by a 350 crate motor. One of the things that it needs is the wiring going to it. I need quite a bit more wiring done under the hood and dash before i get to the tach

Thank you for the help but I still have another home in No. Phoenix that hasn't sold yet so a new garage might be in my future!!!

Re: My Fathers C-10

hey guys, I need your help now. I'm still having wiring issues under the hood. The truck is a '71 but the front end is a '68 (which is the reason i bought it) and there lays the problem. Did the '68 have a voltage regulator bolted to the radiator support?? Mine has a integral regulator and has wires butt connected together. There is a a four wire connector in the front wiring harness down by the head lights. How do i hook it up correctly for a '71???

Re: My Fathers C-10

ttt. Not sure how to help without having the truck in front of me,,,sounds like you don't need the external regulator, if the battery is being charged correctly and the gauge reads right then I would assume the wiring is correct and just needs to be cleaned up and routed correctly,

He has been eye-balling my set-up on my 72. Seems like his is correct or the same as mine.

We just need to keep at it an track the problem down.

Re: My Fathers C-10

i might have read your question wrong.

i found on here somewhere how to convert a external to internal.

i spliced the blue and brown together. cut out the white all together, and the red goes to the alternator.

if i find the link i'll post it

thank you, i've found the problem. i thought in was a later model alternator and that's the problem. I've been looking at my son's '72 amd found where the
regulator mounts and i do not have one. So off the the parts store i go
