What number upper A arm bushing do I need.
 

Guys, my local auto part stops are saying the upper a arm bushing for my 71 Chevy truck are no longer available. Have found several on flea bay.. does Moog K6176 sound like what is needed. thanks.

It does off the top of my head. Do not listen to your local auto parts store.

They really aren't "bushings" in the 1967-1972 trucks. More of a solid steel shaft with a huge greaseable threaded cap that fits in the control arm.

Not really a bushing.....huh. The upper rear on drivers side on my newest clunker just rattles back and forth. I just assumed it was a bushing. Should I pull it first to see if its the shaft worn out or maybe the A arm itself is worn. All the others seem very tight. Usually when one is worn , I guess thru not getting greased regularly, or extreme dirt and crud. that the other joints ,bushing are not far behind.

40 year old rigs can have all kinds of things happen. The end caps on the shafts can waller out the hole in the control arm and cause a lot of slop. My LCA on my 1972 had been hit by who knows what (probably a curb) and the area the cap goes through was bent pretty bad. I was able to bend it back into shape and make it work.
