Cost when new?

Looking at a 1 owner 74 c10 and wondering if anyone knows where to find out what it sold for new? I know what options the truck has will make a difference but just looking for a base number.

Likely depends on where you live but my 1976 Sierra Grande about middle of the road for options was $4500.00 new. At that time our dollar was pretty close to par with yours. My uncle bought a 1972 longhorn loaded up pretty nice and I think he said it was around $3800.00 new so that should give sort of an idea.

Thanks guys. It just got me thinking about how close his asking price is to what it cost new. This truck is actually in very good shape and I'm sure to the right person would fetch more than he's asking.

In 1979 we were paying around $12,000 for 2 wheel drive and my 86 was a full load 2 wheel drive and it was in the mid twenty also. In 92 a full load extends cab was in the thirty something mark and by 2001 my extendacab 4x4 full load was $48,000.

The generic info packet in the GM Heritage Center archive for 1974 did not include prices;

for a '73 C10 the base price is around $2800 to $2900. You can go through the info packet and add the prices for the optional content to get a good estimate for your particular truck.

Here's the invoice for my '87 shortbox.

I paid the $9900 figure as a result of my employee discount. (I also paid $525 for it to go the 13 miles from Flint Assembly to the dealership in Davison).

I have actually made more selling this truck to family members than what I paid for it new.

I should mention that price is for a V8; a base straight six would be a little less than that.

My bad, meant to say $16K. Its a loaded up 86 C10 shortbox silverado with power windows, locks, AC, tilt, cruise, heavy springs, brakes, and forged aluminum wheels.

I added the base price of mine with all the options it had on a 81 manual somewhere and it came out to about 9500$.
