You're welcome - I hope that wasn't bad news for you. It's a very cool truck, great options and color - it'd be worth asking the prev owner is he knows what/when/how, etc on the custom camper part, maybe there is a story behind it. It's a very original looking truck. Welcome to the board, looking forward to seeing more of this truck.

Oh no! That wasn't bad news at all. I really appreciate the education. The original, one owner passed away. I picked the truck up at an auction where several of his classic cars and trucks were sold. It was a great collection. He must have ordered the truck with the heavy duty coil springs with the topper in mind. The wood bed is under an orange carpet (70s style LOL) and padding. It has the original olive green paint and is smooth like new.
I've always wanted a '72 C10 Cheyenne in the Olive Green/White combo. The truck is all original and never been painted. I'm thrilled to have it. I will add more photos as I go through the truck mechanically and detail it. Happy new year to you!

I posted this elsewhere, but I'll do it again for this thread! Purchased from Bel-Air Shells in Garden Grove, CA, in February.

That's kinda cool! Can you post some more pics, rear and interior? Maybe price point if you don't mind.

Edit: Found their website ... nice stuff.

I've always had the idea of making an old aluminum topper Piano hinged
I would have an electric servo open it and put my wheelchair in behind the cab so it was covered from the elements...

Not a great picture. It was sent to me by the original owners son who bought it from his Dad in 1987. He said this pic was taken in July 1972 when the truck was a week old.

Thanks! I'll get more pics later. I am still working on the inside. So I've far put in new plywood sub-flooring for the new linoleum. It's not nailed down yet, so not much to look at, there.

I posted my old K20 way back in this thread. I found another picture of it after I put on new grill, bumpers and had my mirrors redone by Txfire ...

That was one crazy heavy canopy.

THAT couldn't have been an easy one to find! Here's a few more I've found recently. Still looking for an era correct topper (you know, like Pete's!!)

The Mooncraft is awesome, but it was way too far away - boo...
Pic #3 is really kinda what I'm looking for. This one had more damage than it looked like in this pic though.
Really like the "Compliment" (pic 4) but it was too far gone to chase..
The Star Line (pic 5) is probably more of a camper than a shell/topper - but it was cool.

That mooncraft canopy is pretty cool. How much is it?

I don't recall exactly how much, but it was dirt cheap. May have been $100 or something like that. It was about 4-5 months ago though, has dropped off cl. If closer, I would have bought it - it had a very cool garage door rear window - as shown in the pic, it's not broken, it just glides up and into the camper when you open it.

Works for me. Keeps the bed in excellent shape and provides needed protection during transport. Shell is by ARE.

The early 70's brought out a new generation of sleek styling one piece shells with space age materials.

Would have been a neat one to snag up. The way the hatch opens is kind of cool. If I did my internet search correctly that company has been gone since the mid 70's.
