CPP modular dropped spindles

Hello all,

I haven't been able to do much to my truck lately, so I have been MIA from here for awhile.

I am looking to lower my truck using CPP's modular dropped spindle. (I want to upgrade to bigger rims down the road) I have received some conflicting information on whether these will work on my stock disc brake set up. I was told it will work only if I have the heavy 1/2 ton discs. I was also told it will work on my set up because my discs are 1.25"

My questions:

Anyone use the modular dropped spindle using stock 1971-72 disc brake set up? If so did you have to change out/upgrade ball joints? Any modifications needed?

Is there such thing as heavy 1/2 ton discs on a 1971-72? I measured mine and they are 1.25" Did 1971-72 ever come with 1" discs?

Thank you for any help. I searched the forums before posting and could not find my answers.

Jeremy

i am using on a 71 cpp modular drop spindles, they use thestock ball joints and discs set up. you will need the caliper brackets from cpp to do the fit. Also the brake lines on mine did not fit , and had to source longer rubber brake hoses.
i am now fitting the 14 inch wilwwod 6 caliper set up, which just bolts up.hope this helps

Thank you for the help! Brake lines didn't fit? Interesting!

I would hope that the brakes would swap right over? I also have the 1.25 inch stock brakes on my 72 and plan on using CPP drop spindles, don't know yet if I will use stock height springs or go another inch lower? I know I don't want to worry about notching the frame in back so will probably only go 4 inch drop in back. Waiting to hear what others may have experienced with CPP spindles...

I have the modular spindles and caliper brackets on my ‘72. Everything bolted up just fine.
