Just another crazy idea....

I've been reluctant to share this because it will be years before I would have the resources to create such a thing, but....Whatta ya think of the world's first AWD C-10??? Yeah thats right, All-Wheel-Drive. It's an idea I've had burning in the back of my head for awhile, I'd like to base it on a 67-72 C-10 swb with a running gear similar to a Typhoon, but beefed and enlarged to accomodate a half ton pickup...Got the idea after watching a video of a Typhoon ripping at least 30 donuts without stopping....I've only been able to accomplish two at one time with my 72...Aint a bad concept eh? Oh, and if ya go stealin' my idea I'll hunt you down like a wild rabbit http://67-72chevytrucks.com/board/ubbhtml/wink.gif heheh....honestly though, I want your opinions...

BTW, here's a link to the typhoo video... http://www.rankinroad.com/archive/Sp...n_Burnout1.mpg

your right, your carzy, no, i've also been thinking about that, also getting a vett frame and dropping a blazer on it would be cool, but yeah your not alone on "crazy" ideas that someday will come tru with funding

BTW, I seen a 66 short stepside in a mag on a complete Vette chassis ('94 I think??)...The frame was completely fabricated and it had a Lt-1 and tranny from the same vette that donated the suspension...pretty neat truck..(oh yeah had late-model 17 inch Vette wheels too)..pretty cool (at least it didnt have the Vette roll pan http://67-72chevytrucks.com/board/ubbhtml/smile.gif)

That would be cool if you can do it. I think it would be a TON of work though. I have seen that typhoon video too. I tried to show it to my friends but none of them appreciate the power it takes to get 4 tires spinning like that.

BTW DONUTS RULE...The video of my truck should be getting mailed to me this week. Hope to have it up for your viewing enjoyment sometime next week. I had to lift during my burnouts, the shift light was staring me in the eyes the entire time...hehe...POWER RULES TOO

I saw a 37 Chevy Coupe in a street rod magazine a couple of years ago with all-wheel drive. Summit Racing also featured the Quadra-Duece last year (awd '32 FORD Roadster). I know that the 37 used a Typhoon suspension. Can't remember what the 32 used.

Yeah, the quadra-deuce is also based on a typhoon running gear...I think the biggeststep would be adhering to the extra width of a full-size pickup, whereas the quadra-duece is much narrower in the front and more similar to a typhoon...

Maybe a late-model 4x4 IFS would be a good base for this??? Only prob is should the rear be kept stock or transformed to IRS to match the performance of the front suspension?

The only problem with most four wheel drives is that they aren't all-wheel. They are limited slip front and back.

Yeah I'm just talking about the IFS, not the whole runing gear, because it is sized to fit a full-size truck already....And I'm pretty sure most or all of the Typhoons have the 4.3 V6, (right?) you could pull the trans/transfer case from that, and if your a ingenuitive enough you could fab that to the 4x4 IFS and whatever kind of rear, be it IRS or justa aplain jane 12-bolt...you realize this is all just crazy talk right? It's not like I'll ever have the money or resources to do this...just thought it was a cool idea...

Hey, why dont you go with the AWD set up from a Lamborgini??? I am pretty sure that would be wide enough, might cost you a little extra but its a small price to pay...lol...
