1979 Chevy Truck Window Sticker

Would anyone be wiling to share pictures of your original window sticker if you have one ? I am trying to have copy of mine made for my truck but, I want to try to do it right. I have a copy of my original invoice from the GM Heritage Center and it clearly shows the cost of all the options and MSRP to have the sticker made.

The problem I'm having is the ( at no extra cost ) side of the sticker... My truck is a C-10 Silverado. I would think that base options would be in this section but, not completely sure. From the research I've done so far it could be engine size, brakes, drip rail moldings, ashtray etc.

I would like to see pics of later 70's trucks up to 1980 if anyone has any. I don't need to see pictures of later model trucks as that would not really help much.

Thanks ! :chevy:

Thanks for the responses. Yes, this is the person that will doing my window sticker for my truck. However he seems to think that 1979 would be different than this example since the one in the post above is from 1978. That's why I'm wanting to see some other examples of window stickers if anyone has anything to share.

Not sure if this helps but it's a 79 corvette sticker. I would think it would be the same one as the trucks.

Crazy as it seems that is my replica window sticker for my 1978 3/4 truck I had him make for me. The window sticker has some words misspelled on it. I have the original one he did for me and the one posted is a picture of it with the misspelling. There are some things I would of done different on the sticker but its was good enough for me.

The few things I would of done different on this window sticker are a few small simple items to make it look more realistic to someone picking it apart. The first change would be delete the headliner and pillar trim panels under the Scottsdale Equipment because those items did not come on a Scottsdale. The next thing is to correctly spell The few misspelled words. Not sure about the curved windshield at no extra cost is? I thought all the windshields are curved to conform to the windshield frame? The truck did not have any clearance lights on it as standard equipment either. Other than those items the window sticker is great and I like the old aged paper it is printed on.

Thanks for sharing your feedback I greatly appreciate it. :chevy: So, if I understand you correctly you did not have your original window sticker for him to make your copy that you bought from him ??

I don't have mine either... What I do have is a copy of the original invoice from the GM Heritage Center. He sent me a PDF from the GM Heritage Center that shows the differences in each trim package for the 1979 Chevrolet trucks. Most of the items in the no charge column are standard across the board from the Custom Deluxe up to the Silverado. Curved glass, rear window, electric windshield washers, drip moldings, flow through ventilation, ventipanes and curved side glass, rear view mirrors, door locks, identification and clearance lights are all listed as standard equipment in the PDF from the GM Heritage Center that he sent.

I can see how clearance lights could be considered (cab or roof lights) but, I think what they could mean is the side and fender marker lights ??

The only word that I see misspelled is (Vintipanes). It should be (Ventipanes) but, I could have missed something else. :)

You are correct, Scottsdale did not have the headliner or A-pillar trim.

Re: 1979 Chevy Truck Window Sticker

I thought the clearance lights related to lights on the top of the cab? Some of the other words misspelled are DOOK LOCKS instead of door locks and the other one is REARVIEW MIRROS instead of rearview mirror. But overall its a good copy. I did not have my original window sticker but I have the spid label in the glove box with the codes and descriptions.

Thanks, everyone, for posting. Good thread.

I was familiar with "Paul" from winvoices via another forum. I got the impression over there that these types of mistakes (misspellings) would be beneath him.

As an aside, I have seen original window stickers and SPIDs with misspelled words. The '64 Pontiac stickers went all year with a "Heavey" Duty fan option called out

He must be referring to the side marker lights, which were required/standard.

The cab high running lights were available optionally as U01 on anything, and required for vehicles wider than 80" (duallys, and some 4wd models).

Funny story about the Heritage Center: I called to see if they had an original window sticker for an '87, so that I could have mine reproduced.

The rep said he did not but that he could put me in touch with a guy that probably did. He then proceeded to read off my name and phone number....

(lol)

Thanks for chiming in Keith. I was hoping that you would. My understanding is that the GM Heritage Center will NOT have copies of original window stickers. What they WILL HAVE is a copy of your ORIGINAL INVOICE. That will provide alot of the information needed to recreate your window sticker for your truck. This service is only available for mid 70,s GM models and up IIRC.

LOL...did you graciously accept the info or did you let him know that he was speaking to that person?
I had a similar experience....I worked in a Oldsmobile dealership for a number of years and would sometimes help with customer pickups or drop offs. I was out to pick up a lady in a neighborhood that I wasn't familiar with and was on the phone with her getting directions. I realized I was a house away and I tried to tell her I was about to pull up in her drive...she was so concerned about giving me directions that she asked me to hold on because some guy just pulled up in a van with large Olds dealer markings. We both had a good laugh!!

You are correct - original invoice, which looks like the attached.

For trucks availability starts in 1977 for Chevy and 1976 for GMC.

It never occurred to me to keep any of the original build documentation or window sticker until recently, even though I followed my truck down the line while it was being built. I could have kept the build sheet, inspection tickets, etc.

Re: 1979 Chevy Truck Window Sticker

Doing a follow up on Paul with Winvoices, He had corrected the few misspelled words on his invoice that he made for me at no extra charge and I am pleased with the final window sticker. These window stickers are high quality and identical to the originals. The paper is high quality also and has that aged look for authenticity. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a reproduction window sticker give him a call. Thanks again Paul for the great work.
