Got some better pics taken of the K30 today, couldn't edit the post so I will add here.

Still planning 6" springs front and rear and looking hard now, at the TRF Recentering H1 Wheels to use with the 37s or 38s.

Welcome to the board! We have a diesel conversion section here in the engine section. The hyper link at the bottom of my signature will take you there. Feel free to post a thread on there. There are several 81-87s with Cummins engines in them. At least 1 24v for sure. I'm sure we can guide you in the right direction. I have a 76 that has one in it but it is a project and on hold. I have done 3 squares besides my own so far. Your truck is in great shape. We don't get to see that here much. :metal:

Need some help if possible. The 24 valve I got was from a wrecking yard so its fairly complete, the wiring harness has the headlight circuit on it. Long story short, I was wondering if someone sells a harness to take into consideration that I am dropping it into an 84K 30 and don't have a need for all those sensors.

Also, if the harness exists do they include an option for a GM alternator. Which GM alternator would work for that truck.

Finally, would it be cheaper to do the p-pump conversion or to get the factory VP44 pump going. Just looking to have it as daily for now.

As far as I know, no one sells any kind of after market wiring harness for an industrial application. You will have to wire it your self or hire some one to do it. Does your ecm have 2 plugs or one? Start a thread in the diesel conversion section so we don't get this thread off course.

Much thanks for the nice words guys. Stumbled upon a Dana Super 70 on Craigslist. It's out of a 2004 Chevy 3500 van, less than 35000 miles on it.

Has the 410 ratio I'm needing, disk Brees and best of all, it's wide enough to push my rear tires out to match front.

Do you still have drw hubs on the front? Swaping to srw hubs will narrow the front up.

Truck looks great!

Much thanks to the nice words.

DRW front hubs are still on and I'm looking at going SRW to get the track better matched. Also looking at going SRW hubs in rear, along with a rear disk conversion.

That should get me another 4 or so inches of width in the back.

I'm having trouble finding the front hubs, as they aren't many used ones floating around and new ones are a bite in the wallet. The rear hubs are being sourced also. Just a matter of finding someone who has them and wants my cash.

I'm trimming the front fenders this week and planning for a new dual exhaust system and front mount winch as next mods.

The winch will recreate ( Fred Williams ) " Alabama Army Truck " as seen in pages of 4 Wheel & Off Road magazine.

I'm also looking at headers, a hydraulic roller cam assembly for low to midrange torque, a dual plane intake, timing chain and ignition upgrades and a new carb. To provide some upgrades and grunt to the very nice running 7.4.

The truck has just a lil over 35,000 original miles and is as smooth as a year old rig.

Seems I'm always looking 2 to three mods ahead. The first was tires, wheels and suspension. So the results are moving along nicely.

Took me 19 years to luck up on another K30, that makes me forget selling my 88 K30 Camper Special dually. So worry not, as when the time is right, it might just find you.
