350 carb to FI

Thinking about going to Edlebrock multi port injection kit #35760, has anybody done it? If yes are you glad? I put a kit on a 84' Jeep CJ7 a few years back, was real happy with it.

Sounds like you answered yourself...

I think you will be happy. From the sounds of it you enjoy the eas of injection starting. I have not used that set up, but I added fuel injection and I love it, can't go wrong with it.

The multi port injection has more options for tuning than Holley FI and the edelbroke 35760 will give you the look of an old carb without the carb. Nothing against carbs, but fuel injection is superior.

I guess the distributor fires the injectors, no mention of a crank sensor like in my Jeep, just about made my mind up to proceed, here's a link if anybody is interested https://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-35760

nice setup. like the manifold injectors vs throttle body, thou even the throttle body efi works pretty nice

Properly tuned EFI has many advantages over a carb. The ecu included with the Edelbrock unit appears to be very capable. If you have the time and inclination to finish a complete install I'd think you'll be happy with it.

From what I can see reading on the Edelbrock site it does trigger off the distributor.

It's pretty well plug and play unlike some systems.

I'm interested in this as well. I have been looking at those kits for a while. They are just expensive. I'd like to hear, once you install it, how well it works and the total cost (kit, fuel supply, etc).

Ordered it, I'll keep you interested guys informed in this thread when done. One prob I see is the oil fill tube I have now goes thru the intake manifold, going to have to change it to a valve cover as the FI manifold does not have a place for it.

Re: 350 carb to FI

You know, I kind of felt the same way when I converted to EFI. It was sad to lose the front engine fill tube. But the EFI more than makes up for it. :)

Is there a major mileage increase over say a edelbrock 1406 and performer manifold?

Great, thanks. I'm looking forward to hearing the updates.

I'd like to see a 3 or 4 mpg increase, getting 11 now with that same carb & manifold, I'll post mpg when I get it but it will be awhile.

Re: 350 carb to FI

If you got 4 mpg better that would be 12 gallons saved for every 500 miles. Locally that is 37.90 every 500 miles difference.

Re: 350 carb to FI

May want to add a GearVendor and 3.08 gears to the list, that would aid in the 3 maybe 4 MPG gain.
But seriously, it will only pay for itself in smiles and and cold starts. Well worth it in my opinion. Plus your gonna want to know how much faster it is, so toss your MPG out the window for the first 1000 miles.

My guess is that someone spending $1800 for the conversion isn't really concerned about economy.

Re: 350 carb to FI

I didn't use the system you are getting. I switched to FiTech (throttle body). My milage may have gone up 1 mpg, (getting about 16 mpg)but the response and start ups are so much better, I really don't care, I'm just enjoying it...Jim

Re: 350 carb to FI

The fuel economy will depend on the final tune which generally depends on the engine and how the vehicle is configured. The more time a person spends getting all the details worked out the better the results.
