They could always be bigger. I do have a 24X30 barn style garage also. Machine shop and motorcycles will stay in that. I have a 20 foot conex I plan to put by the side of the new shop for parts storage. I'll be 62 in April and retired from my full time job in December. I plan to use what I have to keep my self just busy enough to support my truck habit.

Have made some more progress on the new shop. Got the doors set and the bracing in what we had gotten finished on the walls to get it ready for the roof system. Had a crane here yesterday and we got the roof beams and perlings set. At the end of the day my buddy that has been helping me was very happy we were done. Everything fit well and went together with out any issues. The snow started falling as we were finishing up. This morning everything looked like a winter wonder land.

Re: The new "He shed"

Thanks for the kind words Greg. Working hard to make this a nice place to work on my trucks and what ever else comes in the door. Most of the snow melted today. Will be in the 20's tonight so won't get an early start in the morning. Next step is to put in all the bracing for the roofing system and what else go in the walls that I could not do till the rest of the steel was up. As I do that I will work on all the bracing I will put up the rest of the steel that has to be up before the sheeting starts. I figure that will take 3 or 4 days. With the snow forecast I put off the delivery of the insulation till Monday. Hope to start the sheeting by the end of next week.

Most of the snow is gone and it got to 50 today. Was 21 at 7 am so it was chilly when I got started today. My brother came to visit and we worked on putting the bracing in roof. Worked about 7 hours on all those brackets and braces and the building kind of looks the same.

Re: The new "He shed"

Was really nice outside yesterday and worked on the bracing. This thing has a lot of X bracing in the back half of the building and I was able to get that all completed. Down to 2 pieces in the front wall and 2 in the roof of the lean to. Did find out I was short 2 pieces for the roof framing. They are about 5 foot long that are at each corner. Going to call on that this morning. Insulation is due here today.

Got all the bracing in the building and getting ready to start on the support trim around the gables and eaves that need to go up to support the roofing and siding. Did find I was missing two pieces of that and gave them a call. Very helpful and it will be here by Friday. Looks like rain for the next couple of days so progress will be slow.

I need to get some pictures off my phone and resize them. All the bracing is done, the roof is on the lean to, I finished up everything to put the roof on the main shop and it goes on Saturday. Then on to the siding. I'll get more pictures up soon.

Did not get far today. Wind blew 15 to 20 with gust much higher. Will try again when the wind will let us work.

I can confirm the wind gusts. I toted this home from across the bay bridge today and the wind was so bad the GPS kept recalculating

I know I would not have been toting metal roof panels

Wind laid down Tuesday and we have been at it hard since. The roof is done and the trim up. We have the lean to side done and part the way around the front. Will be back at it in the morning and hope to finish the front and start on the back. Will try and post some pictures tomorrow.

A couple of pictures of the progress this week. All the trim has been a little bit of a challenge to figure out but we are getting it done.

Looking good Jimmy. I really like the lean to over the side doors. Makes me want to pull one out over my main doors. Would be nice to work with the doors open on rainy days without the water migrating into the shop

Re: The new "He shed"

I'll get some pictures resized tomorrow and post em. Yesterday we were able to get it fully closed in. Next is getting the rest of the trim and gutters up. I have been working on the wiring and have that about halfway done. The pace has been hard and fast with the weather cooperating to get it closed in. Time to slow down a bit and let my 61 year old body recover from the pace set by my mind that thinks I'm still 40.

Here are a couple of pics of getting the shop closed in. When we got the back wall done I had to hang a banner up to celibate. Victor has been helping me a lot on this building and the two of us ran the 40 foot of siding on Friday to finish the last side. He was happy to see it done.

Saturday I worked on the wiring and cleaning up the inside while it rained. First time the truck has has had a place to go out of the weather since we moved 4 years ago. Old girl was happy. Overall the building has gone together well. The learning curve at times had me scratching my head but we made it through. How to work with the insulation and getting the sheets lined up took a little trial and error. The stuff is 6 foot wide and up to 44 feet long. If anyone decides to do a shop like this I'll share what I learned. Next step is to finish the soffit, trim and gutters.

Got a couple of things done today, mainly getting quotes on the doors. Need to get them ordered. Spent some time the last two days researching concrete sealer. Looks like Euclid diamond hard will do what I want and seems to do well in what I have seen on reviews of folks that have used it in a shop.
