factory oil pressure gauge 60lb ??

Was the standard oil pressure gauge for a 350 engine 60lbs on a 72 Blazer ??

Yes. Small blocks are 60 and big blocks are 80.

I wasn't aware of numbers on the 70-72 gauges, and didn't know bigblocks were part of the blazer line.
I can tell you my 72 blazer oil pressure gauge does coincide with a hand held mechanical gauge I had T'd into just for a comparison. And when the factory gauge was pegged it matched very close to the 60 lbs. mark on my handheld.

My 79 pickup with a factory 454 doesn't have an 80lbs. gauge either. Neither did the 77 bigblock I had before that. They were also all 60 lbs. gauges,,,with actual numbers on the gauge in those years.

67-72 gauges do not have numbers on the face, but they do utlilize the two different gauges, 60 and 80 lb.
you are right, no BB in Blazers but lots of gauge panels swapped in and out so you may have an 80 where a 60 would have been stock.

That's true with all the swapping on these things over the last 40 years.

With that said then the original posters best bet is to do what I did, and temporarily hook another mechanical gauge up just to see how it reads in comparison.

Sorry for the confusion. My post was a general, "across the board" statement in regards to the entire 67-72 body style. If you pull the gauge out of the panel you will see where it says 60 or 80lb. I believe they used a 60lb in all applications from 73 up.

Thanks for the responses. I see now where when removed it is printed on the lower face. 80lb might be the way to go with fresh higher performance 383 always seems to peg the guage full over.

I think the 80 pound gauges were found in the C-40 and bigger trucks. I believe everything from C-10-C-30 was a 60 pound regardless of engine size.

I hope my oil gauge never goes bad, don't know if I can lift a 60lb. gauge up into my dash, let alone an 80 lb. one
