71 C10 Air Conditioning/Heater Core Replacement

Hi,

I just bought a 1971 C10 long-bed and I love it. However, the previous owner let a failed A/C system get the best of him, so bypassed it completely and just let it rot. I've taken everything out, but looking on some advice on where to get an electronically-controlled replacement unit.

There's basically nothing at this point. No compressor, nada. With winter coming up, I at least want the heater working, so time to re-do the whole thing.

Any advice on where/what company provides a good replacement kit?

Thanks!

I like classic air group. If you want to keep the stock parts look on the parts board if you want aftermarket look at the vendor on here and see who has best price. I know F.A.A.benny does nice restrations on old parts for AC trucks.:chevy:

Why don't you just put it back original? Are the condenser and hard lines gone? Is the Evaporator there and just left open? Condenser, evaporator, hoses, Sanden Compressor and have a nice system. You already have an a/c truck so you have the firewall cutouts and controls already. I assume you have the inside and outside boxes and ducts still.

Also Welcome, any of the compressor brackets still there?...7 pieces to get the original compressor mounted if you have the original valve covers. If valve covers are tall it won't work, also correct pulleys are needed. I am putting my 71 back together if you need photo's etc....Replacement Sanden Compressor is the way to go if your going with R134a also.... good luck.

Why Sanden? I did not see one for our year in their catalog. Which one did you use and do you have a stock setup?

I have the stock set up, my truck came with most of the parts, including new compressor from JC Witney....Probably 10-15 years old.....Sanden seems to be the best alternative I have heard of.
