I seem to have what Jim Carter truck parts identifies as Carter Heads on the bolts holding the guards [ fenders ] on my 1955 stepside tub. Where can I get a tool to assist with bolt removal please?

clutch head screws, are what holds them on. All the old truck parts places sell them (lmc, ect.). If you know an old timer with some old tools he will probley have them also.

I got lucky and was able to remove mine with a large flat head screwdriver. If yours aren't rusted to bad it may work.

I got my three size set years ago from Jim Carter, I have also seen them at Harbor Freight.

Re: 55 step side tub guard removal
what I did was weld nuts onto the bolt heads and had a friend hold a wrench on the other side while I unbolted the fender from inside the box. the heat from welding on the nuts really helps in removing the bolts!
