Rear Coil Spring Measurement

Does anyone have any used rear coil springs on hand that could measure the 'free' height?

I think so Scoti. I'll see here in a bit.
Scoti mine are the originals off my 69 short stepper 1/2 ton. They measure 13 1/2” free height.

Thank you for the dimensions.

Re: Rear Coil Spring Measurement

Ok.... Revisiting this & I'm curious. I'd like to get additional dimensions from rear coil spring set-ups (just a few).

A measurement (bottom of the frame rail to top of the truck-arm as close to the coil as possible) from a truck as well as from a burb. Stock height is the desired priority but I won't turn down dimensions of a lowered combo if someone can easily get the info.

I have a non-stock 'research' agenda & some measurements from trucks assembled & on the road will help. My priority would be from Burb owners as they're heavier in the rear half of the chassis. The more info the better:
  • Measured from in front of spring or behind
  • Type of truck (short fleet/short step; long fleet; Burb; ETC)
  • Spring info (replacement coil; original coil; lowered coil)
  • Loaded/installed height

Thanks in advance!

I have 5" drop springs from GMCPauls on my 68 2WD short stepside. The loaded/installed height is 8"

This info will be a nice comparison & what I'm looking for so I'll add that to my notes. Thanks for measuring!

TTT... Keeping this on the front burner until I can get additional input.

Holiday is coming up....

Lots of folks might be off work & tinkering in the shop. Anyone that can take some measurements on the rear springs of their C10 or Burb would be appreciated.

I did mine yesterday. 68 long fleet rear springs 12 1/2" high. They were original springs. The truck seems to be 1" higher with new ones. Doing the fronts when I get around to it, thinking of rebuilding it all. Have a good one eh.

For those that just looked @ this initial post..... I'm requesting dimensions of installed springs as well.

It seems the standard free height is fairly consistent & not much different vs. a 'new' coil. Now to see how much variance as installed. Drop spring info is appreciated as well for those that have the opportunity to provide it.

Thanks.

Bumping this as changes loom closer & more data would be beneficial for direction.

Looking for additional rear coil spring heights on stock set-ups. Wanting to see if there's a fairly consistent avg height or if they're more random that not.

The free height of my stock 72 burb rear springs are 12.5 inches. I don't know if they are compressed from time, and I didn't get any installed measurements (didn't see this post until today).

Got to thikin about it and there could be a difference in height depending whether the springs are regular or heavy duty. Just a thought cause I have too much time on my hands that allows me to think!! Have a good one eh!

Correct, there is a possible difference thus my trying to get as much data as I can.
