How Much Does My Truck Weigh?
I sold the engine and tranny out of my 79, and was just wondering roughly how much it now weighs without them. The truck is a 79 GMC C35 single rear wheel "Camper Special".

Re: How Much Does My Truck Weigh?
The 86 C20 I have was around 6000-6500 lbs before I yanked the drivetrain. It too is a camper special.
Father in laws 04 Duramax 4x4 is 7700lbs empty! |

Now tell me how a C20 can weight up to 2650 more. Yes the frame is bigger, plus the rear end and tires and wheels but not to the tune of one ton plus. |
Re: How Much Does My Truck Weigh?
I'm also astounded at 6000-6500 lbs for a C20. Judging by the original literature I have read and the options on the truck I am estimating my C35 weighed somewhere in the 4200 lbs range before the engine and tranny were pulled.

Re: How Much Does My Truck Weigh?
Maybe a Crew Cab, Dually, 4x4 truck would weigh 5000-6000lb, but a 2wd regular cab longbed SRW 1 ton truck ? Probably 4500 or so.

Re: How Much Does My Truck Weigh?
I pulled the 454/th400 out of the 74 GMC 3/4 ton I had and scrapped it . 3300 pounds without wheels/tires and tank empty . I left the gas tank on it . Frank

Re: How Much Does My Truck Weigh?
My SWB 84 weighs in at around 3950# with all installed, so the weight of a motor and tranny is going to lighten it about 600#.
