Steering Wheel Play

Hope all is well! I have a 1993 3500 GMC Dually and there is some play in the Steering. The truck drifts when going down the road and I am constantly correcting it. I was wondering if a wheel alignment will take care of this situation or could it be something else. Thanks for any and all help!!

I would check the steering components and ball joints. The idler arm and pitman arm are likely causes of the play in the steering.

The steering shaft rag joint is also a cause of concern and wander. the XJ steering shaft swap is well worth is weight in gold!

Tie rods, ball joints, the steering box itself, the rag joint in the column, idler arm, pitman arm, there are many possabilitys for play in steering. An alignment will only cause it to drive strait it doesn't adjust the play in the system.
