I'm developing a possible craving for a 4X4 'Burb, so I'd like to revive this thread and see more pics of these big beauties.

Re: Show me your 4x4 Suburbans!

Hey Tony
I cant say wich kind of burb is the best because there are different needs for each burb owner. I happen to love the 4x4 burbs. I have had three and all I can say is they are great vehicles. I'm down to just a 68 now, which is my first burb. I also owned a really rusty 1972. Maybe I still do. I took off the old rusty body and replaced it with a 1967 panel body. :)

Well I sold my Suburban and having withdrawls.

It just had too much rust for me and my body man to deal with. So hoping the next one I get will be in better condition.

I think I'm safe in saying if I find "the" 4x4 my Blazer has to go away, and after building my Blazer...,the Suburban would have to be done and done nicely.

Lol sounds like what I used to have. a 1967 that I paid way too much for. And it had rust or I mean to say rust was its best friend.

Always on the hunt for a 2wd 'burb as I plan to transplant onto a 2004 wrecked Suburban chassis and running gear.

Of course you can play as long as you don't tell anyone that my front driveshaft isn't bolted in mine.

You should definitely start a build thread for that snow buster you're building.

C20-67_N_MO

Here is the info you asked for.

Bought the burb back in 1997 and drove it about 6 months ,3rd owner 56k and the rust came from setting in the grass/ weeds.

Spec:

1972 Custom delux / 20
350/350/205
D44/eaton 4:10 gears
Rubber mat front to back
Non A/C but have a complete roof A/C from a 70burb front to rear.
6" skyjacker F&R springs
3 row bench seats all great.
35" BFG AT Ko / 9.75 x 16.5 KH wheels ( just waiting )

Now the new build

It's going to be a frame off rotisserie color combo will stay the same.

Plans keep changing
tailgate / hatch ,door barn door.
6.0 4l80E
5.9 Cummins 47re
D60/ D70HD 3:73 gears.

That all until the build start. I be doing 3 other builds at the same time.

Thanks

If I ever found a decent deal on a 72 3/4 4x4 burb with front and rear air I would probably pick it up. Im not looking for one, but if it fell in to my lap =)

Just like that second pic would be perfect for me. Just curious what did you get for it? (you said you had it in the past).

I think we got $6500 for it. It was faded but had a perfect interior.
we bought it to keep but someone had to have it worse than we wanted it.

Re: Show me your 4x4 Suburbans!

Yeah it looks good but thats way more than I would want to spend. Im sure that one was worth it, I just need something a little clunkier so it would fit in my budget =)

Re: Show me your 4x4 Suburbans!

Very nice sir.

My dream burb would be to buy a 2wd in decent condition body wise and take it down to the frame. Then find either 5.3/6.0 liter with all tranny/transfer case and other modern fare. Once the body has been gone thru would transfer all to new running chassis and interior. Green with white strip. 33-35" tires maybe a turbo 5.3 liter. Just in the planning stage now.

Like I said just a dream in my head right now.

I remember that now, didn't recognize it from that picture and also didn't realize you had started the 4x4 conversion. Looks good, you'll be done before I am!
