to sell or not to sell?

I've been tossing the idea of selling my truck around recently. and today i found that i can sell it for about $4k and was offered it in a parking lot today. I told the guy I'd think about it. sad part is im considering it. I originally planned on saving the truck for a weekend/summer cruiser, but i can't stand watching it sit. I can't afford to daily drive it anymore, should I sell it? hate how attached I am to the truck. haha. advise?

Is it paid for? Do you need the money? If the answer to those is no, I'd say keep it, but I love trucks... Probably why I have 4 of them. You'll probably regret selling it, too.

My truck barely leaves my garage anymore and I haven't even registered it in nearly 3 years now, but there is no way in Hell I'm going to get rid of it. I become very attached to my vehicles, but I have put so much of myself into my '91, that it is the least likely of any of mine to ever go. My vote is to keep it. You'll be kicking yourself down the road if you get rid of it. But only you really know your specific situation and can really answer the question.

Pretty much exactly what I was gonna say. My 68 shortbox has been in pieces for over 10yrs. It is now part of the family. Even my wife says we could never sell it.

That being said, if there is bills that need to be paid then sometimes something has to give. If it's only because someone offered you a decent buck, then I wouldn't sell. Just my .2cents

Money is getting pretty tight. I have a kid on the way. If I could keep my truck and get somthing else I would. But at this point a new vehicle or one that I need to make payments on isn't even an option. And if I sell it, most likely I'll be right back here with a s10. I just hate seeing my truck sit in the garage. Yesterday was the first time it moved in two weeks. But on the other hand I've had some pretty great memories in that truck. It's part of the family, even the wife (who hates the truck) flat out said I'm not allowed to sell the firstborn (the truck) but she hopes to be working within a year so the truck could be feasible. I just typed my way out of it. $200 winter beater here I come.

Good call. You'll be glad you kept it.

I'm flat broke right now, so I totally understand the money thing. My wife has been out of work for a very long time now and with me working 2 jobs, there's barely an extra dime for anything discretionary. That's why my truck hasn't been registered in so long. She's trying hard to land some income for us, but until then, my baby won't be seeing much sunlight.

thread reopened. say hello to the possible new garage queen. http://kenai.craigslist.org/cto/2761774657.html I've decided to sell my current truck. one its nearing the end of it's journey with me, my list of to do's on it is down to 1 or 2 things. both will be done in the next couple days. my lawsuit settlement came in from a mining operation long story short I can afford gas again! theres no way this guy will get 4500 outta me. going to look at it after I get my truck "finished" what do you guys think from what you can tell? I think he's hiding something. just blue booked it in excellent condition its only worth 4200. I'm thinkin 3200.

That's the thing...I don't know all the details on your truck (like mileage) but it seems like $4k is very generous, especially if a newer extended cab is only worth $4200. I was gonna say sell, if your $4k buyer was serious.

Re: to sell or not to sell?

Sometimes those BlueBook values don't match what vehicles are really selling for. Especially on older, desirable model vehicles, prices can vary quite a bit depending on lots of things. A few years ago, I sold my mostly stock '88 Mustang on ebay to a guy who flew halfway across the country to pick it up and paid me about 50% over the bluebook "excellent" value.

On these truck in my area the blue book. Is really close. But that truck is trashed. It's an electrical and mechanical nightmare. Oh well, looks like my truck is gonna be sticking around for a while. I'll probably sell it come spring or early summer. Unless I get it's quirks to go away.

Yeah that Craigs List truck seems a bit pricey for a '94 Silverado.

Hold on to what you have for now.

Re: to sell or not to sell?

Anything I post on here from Craigslist for my area will seem pricey. Everything is more expensive up here. Update. My truck won't be changing hands anytime soon. I put it in the ditch at about 70mph, no point in braking truck would've slide in Sideways and rolled. It came to rest about 2 feet deep in snow halfway on it side. No damage other than a small dent on the passenger side door. So I have the inspiration for part 2 of the trucks overhaul... Suspension.
