Hey Mate,

I Finally remembered to get the specs on the tyres.

They are Remingtons G78-15 Cushion air. I think they are S%$T. I cant find them on the net. But the are made at the goodyear factory.

As for the hub caps they have no stampings / numbers anywhere on them. So if you do find out what they are off, or where you can buy them please let me know.

I like that gas tank mount set up you made. Looks great so far. How well do you think it'll hold up? You gonna add anymore to it?

Thats the exact same tank I have

Re: 56 chevy build (Aus)

I meant it looks great as is without the 'tray', but Australian Design Regs (ADRs) dictate beyond that point.

55 Cameo - Im going to leave the fuel tank like that im sure it will hold 50 x 50 3mm tube.

Got all the rear finished up. All finish Welded, acuators mounted and working. air tank, fuel. and lifting bed all in and done. Also put some locating pins in the bed for when it comes down.

Got a little video of the bed working, goes alot higher then that but didnt want to bore everyone.

The acuators are rated at 70kg each, So i think that is 154 pound each. So they easily push it up with the wood on.

Cool great work. Looks clean n simple. Was gonna ask how you plan to remove the tank for future service but the tilt bed answers that lol

Thanks Guys. The bed has to be lifted to put the fuel in.

Also i have changed my mind on the colour from black to a satin silver with satin silver frame and red leather. I want to keep the hodrod style look and i have a black daily and its not easy to keep clean.

Also want something different, anyone can walk in to the car dealer and say ill have that shinny black one haha

I am also going to keep the whitewalls and hubcaps.

Looks good.
Where did you get the actuators from?
I still need to decide what I'm going to use to raise my bed.
Thinking about air bags because they will lift a lot of weight but they wont go as high as an actuator so placement is critical.

Thanks Kim,

I got them from a place here in aus http://www.firgelliauto.com.au/ they have up to 180kg in push. But i did look at Autoloc http://www.autoloc.com/catalog/Power.../Power-Ute-Kit but they are wayyyy to expensive for my budget.

With the air bags i would imagin your going to have to have some sort of cantilever setup for it to lift high enough.

Thanks for the info.
I've looked at the ones from Autoloc but don't think they're strong enough to lift my entire bed. I'm looking at some industrial strength ones and comparing the cost of them and doing air bags.

Make all the templates out of cardboard, draw them up on cad and send them out to the laser cutters.

I found it its a 72-78, i ordered 80's spindles and they sent the wrong ones (72-78) and in my luck they ended up fitting perfect.

Got the tail shaft cross member in, shock mounts and finished up all the metal work in the rear.

http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/...s/IMG_2411.jpg

http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/...s/IMG_2439.jpg

Remounted the rear bumper. NOT the easiest job in the world.

http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/...s/IMG_2437.jpg

When i was putting the front end back together i hated the look of the old radiator cover so i made a new one and mounted the electric fan on it.

http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/...s/IMG_2474.jpg

http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/...s/IMG_2472.jpg

Cut the wood for the steps. thinking im going to keep them plain i was going to put 6mm steel strips like the bed but i dont know.

http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/...s/IMG_2475.jpg

Did a few tests last night to router all the channels out for the bed strips.

http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/...s/IMG_2480.jpg

http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/...s/IMG_2478.jpg

Not sunking in the wood yet but this is what it should look like.

looks great, like the bed. I would match the steps to the bed.
Have you thought about shaving the cowl vent?
