Hate to get side tracked but what kind of car is that in the background? It looks awesome!

Re: 56 chevy build (Aus)

So i sprayed my colour on the frame and all the arms, diff ect and the paint had a reaction and wrinkled up so EVERYTHING has to be stripped and started again . I have gone back to my paint supplier to see what they have to say.

But if i cant handle her at her worst then i dont deserve her at her best. So just keep plugging on. :(

Hey Luther that my daily driver its a Holden VE SSV ute, its got a 6.0L ls2 and a 6 speed gearbox. Goes like nothing else and very tail light with no weight in rear.

That is one sweet ride and the truck is too! I saw the front of it and it looked like a GTO with a bowtie on it. I figured it was a holden. We definetely need that in the states. The could make it as a Chevelle. Awesome build. Keep up the good work.

Re: 56 chevy build (Aus)

So after all the drama with the paint (ill get some photos up) looks like i stuffed up big time, and forgot to add the hardener to the high fill in a pot i mixed for the front arms etc.. :( not happy wih myself thats for sure.

But one good thing is all the other primer on the frame is perfect. i was dreading stripping hours and hours of work off.

Yea the holden logo on the front is ugly. People either like the chev badge on it or HATE it here in aus.

GM needs Holden, and Ford US needs our Ford Falcon..... best RWD cars, bang for your buck, in the world.

Re: 56 chevy build (Aus)

When the brought the rebadged Holden to the US as GTO's a few years ago there was talk of bringing the Ute as an El Camino but GM would not do it.

Re: 56 chevy build (Aus)

After the big stuff up with the primer on all the other parts, i thought i would just get stuck in to the frame while they are all back at soda blasting.

And after seeing the colour i chose on the parts the stuffed up, i didn't like it, it looked like i just sprayed it with silver frost out of a can the colour was so light. so i decided to go and get the paint tinted darker.

I cleaned and hosed the shed out.

After laying the colour / basecoat down

http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/...s/IMG_2805.jpg

The hit it with the Clear. Came out ALOT glossier then i expected. Turned out good for my first time ever. Only got 1 run and 1 little bug haha.

After letting it harden up for a couple days, it feels good to be putting things on that will never come off again :)

Accuair system and compressor.

brake booster mounted

Finally got the front end parts to rebuild it.

I just spent the last hour looking over your build and I must say it's turning out really SWEET!!! I love the wheel choice, the frame turned out very nice! Keep up the great work, it looks to be paying off!

I also like your daily drive. Sure wish GM sold those here in the States.
