Any 03-07 SWB K1500s Out There?

I just spied one for sale that has me considering it. I like to buy ones that stand out for being different. Now when I say shortbed that means regular cab, for all tose who got into trucks before there was such a thing as ext. cab GMs. A pickup is a regular cab and anything else you have to specify.

So, this one, I guess, is the basic package. I don't think it had the side trim, which is a plus to me. It has the painted steel wheels. Did all these get the same headlights. What is different is the color...and you don't see later model shortbeds much around here. The color is odd to me, I wonder if it's a fleet color. It looks like Doeskin Tan. Was that offered in the brochures? Te '85 Jimmy I had was that color and it was unusual to see those that color. The truck is unmolested and the only add-on is a hard folding bed cover. I wonder if it's a 4.3 or a 4.8. That would be cool because I'd like it to be thrifty, being a smaller truck than I normally run.

It's actually at a lot and i looked at it today after they were closed. No price on it and to dark to see much inside or under it. It just has me thinking, so wondering what others have like this one and maybe some info to help guide me on these years I've never dealt with. What are they worth?

Shortbed 4x4s are definitely hard to come by anymore, the 03-07 classics are my favorite. I've seen them range from 5k-15k depending on condition and options. I do believe all the headlights were the same as long as it's Chevy, gmc of the same years had a complete different front clip. Post some pictures of it if you can.

I still am thinking on it. I will stop by at least, and see what they want and take pictures. It had a dent in the passenger door, like a swipe, but otherwise in very nice condition. What I should be getting is a K2500 or K3500 but I keep telling myself maybe my days of needing a heavier truck are gone and I could actually get by with something like this

I just bought this one: 2006 K1500 regular cab short fleetside.
Kind of odd options for a municipal truck: 5.3/AT/AC with power windows/locks, cloth seat and rubber floor. 148k miles on it. I did swap the painted steel wheels for some factory 18s which improved the looks, and turned up the front torsion bars about 3 turns. Much more level looking now.
I love it so far, it is like a go-kart compared to my 2005 2500hd crew. I dont always need a HD truck, so I can save the big one for the bigger jobs.

Up here, 4x4 RCSB is fairly common, more so than 2wd RCSB trucks.
Either way, they are usually stepside beds.

The headlights on 03-07 chevy are the same, the grill and hood change two or three times though. 01-02 chevy is the same front end as 01-07 GMC. My old room mate had an 03 standard cab shortbed 1500 with the 4.8 4x4. He used that thing like I use my 2500 CCLB duramax. It handled it like a champ, sold it to a buddy of ours 2 years ago for I think 6k. If you can find one with a 4.8 it makes plenty of power for most uses.

I like that and I have come to be an ex-municipal truck likin' kinda guy. Started with a '91 Diesel 3/4t Suburban from WSSC (Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission). They handle all the crap that comes out of the White House

I was hoping this one is a 4.8. I kinda got off track on this thing, but want to roll by there still and see about it. A friend had a 2wd shortbed with a 4.8 and he got great mileage, and I believe you on being plenty enough power for that size.

I've always been an 8-lugger guy, but now liking the idea of a lighter truck. I don't always need to haul a lot of tools and this one has that bed cover

Ohh WSSC, you know they have the biggest crap plant in the world?? I was just at a Gov Fleet meeting earlier in the week at the Washington auto show and they kept touting that. I work for Fairfax Water, we just sent a bunch of our trucks to Auction, mostly Fords, and a few GM hybrids we got from the acquisition of Falls Church City. No idea who were using anymore, but I know they are about as organized as a toddlers play room, we used to use IAAI out of Brandywine. But back on topic, the 1500 with a 4.8 is a pretty damn capable truck with a set of E rated tires.

Well, I finally went by to have a better daylight inspection. Looking under the rear first thing I see is a glossy black rear end...painted over scaled and pocked up steel. I saw a few untouched pieces that got my mind going toward looking for one in a better part of the country. Looking at the outer rockers I see the first beginnings of rust bleed. No bubbles, just seepage in a couple spots through the paint. Maybe they were patched up and painted as part of the lot "prep", like the shiny axle. Oh well, there was something special about that one, but if I buy something newer it will be to drive, not restore

Very nice. One like yours is what I hope to find. I'm being picky, but almost went for this one based on it being a different color...which was on the '85 diesel Jimmy this would basically replace. I'll be looking around Atlanta and across to the west coast
