Anyone out there still run there soft tops in the winter time?
Would like to see some pics!

My buddy and I both run them year round. For the most part our Blazers sit over the winter unless it is a nice day. Both are parked outside as well. This winter started out pretty mild so we were still wheeling late this year.

Hope thats not a picture of what you call winter. Been -32.8 F here lately with lots of snow on the ground.

In that spot right now I would venture there is at least 2 feet of snow. It will probably be pushing June before we can make it back there.

Haven't had the hard top on my truck in years. (But it does live in the garage!)

I’ve had my soft top for 2 winters, and I’ll never go back to hard top. You just don’t wanna let it get past a foot deep on the top and be careful with the windows, other than that I think it does fine. My hard top was junk so I don’t notice any difference in the heater.

Not a Bronco - nice rig. I especially like your graphics.

How does your soft top do at keeping the wet out? I'm not too concerned about the cold, but I'd rather keep water on the outside.

It keeps the wet out pretty good, but it’s not perfect. It has flaps above the windows the window that you have to mess with sometimes. It keeps water out fine when parked, but when moving in heavy rain a small amount water will find its way in, but it’s doesn’t bug me much. Probably not good for a rainy climate but I love mine

My climate is pretty much the same as yours, and although I have a good single-wall top I think I'm going to save my pennies and buy a soft top.

I just recently bought my soft top in sept. and it doesn't leak one bit. Heavy or light rain.

Not bad at all but when you roll up the sides it flaps a bit but I’d say that should be expected

I would say its not much different than a hard top but the flapping of the soft top is not to bad. You can still have a conversation with someone with out yelling. Definitely worth the investment IMO...

Would you send me some pictures/specs of how you did your roof rack with the supports down to the truck? I'm doing something very similar but want to run it with the hard-top on, and haven't seen anyone else do anything similar.

sorry! it wont let me pm photos, heres some pics. i just replaced the softopper aluminum square tube with .125 wall steel tubing and then cut reliefs so the mounting plate would sit flush then i cut the large box tubing and welded her up. i used that big box tubing cause i didnt actually know how i wanted to mount it at the time i built it.. took me like 10 months till i got around to buying the basket from a jeep part out and building the rack itself (1.5 OD .125 wall)which i had a friend bend cause ive never bent tubing. its nice though, gets a ton of looks:metal:

Cool, I'm planning on bolting a flat piece of steel down to the bedsides with tabs sticking out of the side where I can mount feet for the cage the cage to connect to, then I just need a little longer bolts to run my hard top and all is good.

are gonna cut the bottom of the top a bit? or just deal with the extra gap?

Just gonna try and use some added weatherstripping to deal with the extra space. I guess we'll see when I get it put together.

I really like this setup.... I am still up on the fence if I want to get rid of the hard top.. your post may have swayed my decision. Did you do all the work your self?

I did everything except the tube bending and final tube welds, im not good enough to do bending but I could’ve done all the welding, but I just let the fab guy finish it cause I wanted it done lol. And I don’t miss the hard top either!!
