Replace control arm shaft?
 

The body is of my frame and I'm ready to start rebuilding suspension.
I have to disassemble a lot of the front end for ball joints, idler and pitman and drop spindles. Should I re-do the upper and lower control arm shaft bushings as well?
I know now is the time to do it but if its not necessary i'd rather not. Is there a test to determine condition, I know the manual doesn't have a test.
They look fine.
I saw your post edfabman...what do you think?

if theyre not sloppy and are tight and the shafts dont spin easily by hand then they should be ok, they arent hard ot replace, you gotta unscrew the big hex caps on each end, napa has new shafts for good price, if youre doing everything else then i would probably do those also

Probably the best way to tell how much wear is in the upper control arm bushings is to take the upper ball joint loose at the spindle and grab hold of the control arm near the ball joint and try to move it front to rear. if there is any play in them at all, replace them. Also make sure the up and down motion is smooth. If there is no front to rear play and the up/down movement is smooth, just shoot some grease in them, clean everything and paint....hope this helps....eb

Checked with one autoparts store...almost $300 Cdn for the rebuild kits. I'll check them out a bit closer and if I see any play or weirdness I'll go for it.
