Exhaust work will take your mind off of sanding which sucks haha. I put my hood and cowl on this evening.

It was a nice break from sanding.

I got everything tacked up to my trailing arm cross member. From there I plan on going up and over the frame between the two front box supports and under the box floor, and then running side pipes right in front of the rear tire, either exiting through the box or right under it. Im leaning to through the box as I really like that look, but havent made up my mind yet.

Nice work sir. Well done. One question...what did you do with the cowl vent rod/screw (pops out of top of firewall) that is used to open and close cabin air via vacuum?

Yea it will be close between the box and frame.

I thought about coating it like you did, but no one around here does it that I know of. So I will probably leave it bare. I might coat my mufflers with black epoxy as they are only 409 stainless and will probably surface rust. The rest is 304 stainless.

My truck didn't have anything like this, it's a non-ac cab.

Pressed in my new wheel studs and sprayed epoxy primer on my rotors tonight. The rotors came zinc plated but where already starting to rust in a couple spots, figured I'd give the epoxy a shot. While I was at it I did my mufflers too, atleast they won't surface rust now. I hate any sign of rust.

Fixed a goofy spot in my clear and got it buffed. It was a pretty nice outside today so I decided to roll my cab out and check things over. I was blown away, it really comes to life with a little sun. :metal:

Thanks guys.

Been doing a bunch of stuff on the frame to get it as far along as possible before I set the cab.

Exhaust is tacked and mocked up to where it crosses over the frame. I have really enjoyed the exhaust work so far. Today I used a torch to bend some hangers, Ive never done anything like that before so its fun to do it for the first time. The only thing I dont like about it is the mess, metal work is such a mess, grinding and cutting just makes a disaster out of the shop.

Radiator is in, fan shroud bolted on with the fans, I pieced all of this together so I could have good Spal fans, it came out better than I envisioned and it comes apart easily if a fan goes bad. I modified my engine harness for my coil relocation, and extended the wires for my alternator. Also mocked up my plug wires and brackets, I took a small block setup and made my own mounting brackets to bolt to the LS heads.

Im kind of hoping to set the cab in a couple weeks, I have quite a few odds and ends to button up first though.

304 stainless, welds ground with a 120 grit flap wheel, then all of it buffed with a tan scotch brite roloc, then polished with a stiff wheel and black compound, then a medium wheel and brown compound.

I was going to coat it but I cant find anyone that does the coating I want, so I think I will go this route for now.

Thanks fellas.

Been plugging away on small items in order to get the cab on. I rebuilt the front shock mounts I had bought. Long story short it ended up being easier to cut them apart and use part of the mount and make my own with the right spacing to fit a shock end.

Had some final buffing to do on the cab, everything was going good and then not so good. I had a run around the inside dome light that I didnt get sanded flat the first round. I sanded it again and on my second pass with the buffer burnt through. Looking back on it I just sanded stupidly on that spot, brain fart I guess. So I went into repair mode, luckily these cabs have a nice seam to tape to. I spotted in my base and re cleared the section. So now I can start over on that panel.

I like your idea of the exhaust path. I think I have seen one other truck on here run it over the frame, there. What size is the pipe, where it runs over the frame???

A good friend on mine had a nice long bed 66 C-10. I gave him the idea of running pipe under the frame, and then straight back, outside the frame. He figured out how far the rear coil springs would possible compress, and set that as the height of the pipe. No need to bend the pipe over the axle. Your setup is better....

Thanks. Everything is 2.5 inch 16 gauge. As long as everything clears like I think it should work good. I'm going to be close on a couple spots so it might be interesting.

The paint is Ford Grabber Blue. 10-17 Ford Mustang is the application I used. Ford code M7210, PPG 922601. My base coat brand is Wanda, and pretty much everything else is SPI, I highly recommend both.

Oh cool!!! A co-worker had a mustang that color of blue, he traded it in on a newer model, it's that bright booger snot greenish, yellow, think of the Mucinex commercials LOL

Last couple weeks of progress. My panel repair came out good, did one fine polish on the entire cab. Im really happy with the cab, especially considering my previous experience, what a project and learning experience it was. Im glad its done and on the frame.

Some things we worked on in anticipation of the cab didnt quite fit like anticipated, but some light rework of those items and they can be made to fit.

Over the next few weeks the plan is to work on wiring, and other cab related items. After that couple weeks I plan on getting my doors blasted and starting the paint process on them. Id like to get my doors, fenders, and maybe hood/cowl done before the weather turns hot and humid. I want to try and stay around the same weather as what the cab was so I dont end up with mismatching.
