I know is not a truck but you guys helped me alot with good info on fixing the quarter panel on this thing.Is a 67 belverdere and with all the curves I,m find ing a hard time getting it straight. The trouble is above the wheel well it convex s the length of the quarter. It,s not a perfect quarter to begin with and I don,t expect to get it perfect but I,m trying. I end up with one section looking good but can see flaws in the body contours matching up along the lenght of the quarter. I don,t see how a long board would help with the convex shape. Pics are not my car. The bottom half is good but the top section looks terrible when outside and wet.

I would find a profile that is as close as possible, I have used rubber hoses in different sizes, pipe insulation, foam noodle (kids swim toy ) cut and shape your own from a piece of foam, cover with duct tape for strength. Maybe 1 of the professional guys has better sanding tools

My trouble isn,t with the shape of my block but with trying to get 6 feet of the curve to match. It,s a driver side that had damage and is a little imperfect so is some filler. Gone thru a pint of of filler and is all on the ground. I get a nice curve but then it is flat and not covex on the wheel well. More filler and keep trying. I know is a art to do this , but I,ll keep at it. I can draw with a pencil but doesn,t mean I can draw a portrait.

I'm pretty new at doing body work but I bought some of those sanding blocks with the rods in them. You can take out some or all the rods and make it a little more flexible for sanding convex curves. I have them as long as 30 inches and I like using them. Stay with it and I'm sure you will get it done.

Use a paint paddle like is was done when these cars were new .:chevy:

How bad is the damage that's there? You may be fighting a losing battle if the damage is bad enough. What about a patch panel to get the profile correct?

They don,t sell anything for these cars,I did make my own patch which turned out good. I,m just fighting with the filler to get it to keep its shape. I tried some yesterday and looks a little better. I,m trying not to stay in one spot too long and trying to sand the whole quarter. I found and old office chair with wheels so I can roll back and forth along the quarter and sand.Like I said it looks good but get it wet and you can see some of the curves wandering too big or too small along the quarter,is a big quarter. Need 3 people with a 6 ft sanding block.

I was referring to finding an OEM. I see quite a few of those cars in my area.

you should scoop them up, everybody needs them. I don,t see any of this body style up here. Might see the odd one once a year, not even any 4 doors around. the price to buy a quarter from someone down south would be way too much for shipping to Can. and our dollar is .80 cents. I,ve looked.I,m making good progress. I f it was a hemi or BB. car maybe but it,s just a nice driver.

use tape to show you where the lines are supposed to be.
Straightedge (LONG straightedge) to check your progress with.
Longboard sanding blocks, and contour blocks.
Guide coat. and patience. More patience.
