3 day wait to spray high build?

hello guys, need some clarification. pulled the trigger and bought my primer today. paint store guy said to wait 3 days after spraying the epoxy before shooting the 2k urethane. i've read other post that say you can spray a lot sooner, with respect to the flash time of course.

little help.

Nason brand fulpoxy and 2k urethane

thank you in advance

(total rookie....)

I havnt used Nasson I use Omni and you don't have to wait anything like that. I'd say 24 hours is plenty long. I have sprayed high over epoxy in the same day without a problem

Read the tech sheets, but I've put PPG D822 urethane over DP48LV epoxy with a 40 minute flash time with no problems.

A lot of "value lines" (cheap stuff) like Nason have very limited tech sheets with little info. The "recoat window" is a term commonly used on something like Epoxy because it can be sprayed and then you can apply something over it without sanding, like a sealer, thus the "recoat window," that window of time you can do this. That recoat window is all over the board depending on the product from 20 minutes to a few days.

If all else fails call the Dupont tech line and get the REAL answer. Often the "value line" is limited by the marketing dept more than the tech dept. The marketing dept doesn't want the value line to work as good as the top end stuff right? Well often it's the SAME STUFF in both cans (NO KIDDING) and the value line is limited by the marketing dept in it's uses.

So give the tech line a call and get the real info instead of our opinions.

Id be willing to bet he meant to say you have up to a 3 day recoat window. Many epoxies have this feature that allows you to spray the epoxy then wait up to say 72 hours before you must scuff the epoxy before applying a different product.

1 hr. to topcoat at 70 deg. must sand after 24 hrs. Important -- 30 min. induction above 70 deg. 60 min. induction below 70 deg. 24 hr. pot life
