I bought this 35 chevy tall cab in 1997. I changed almost everything on it by the time I got it done. Its a lot of fun in the summer

Thanks to you all. I got tired of getting wind & sunburned so I built this lift off top.

I know whatcha mean about that cooling wind/piercing sun combo. You can get one mother of a burn.I was going to ask (demand!) more pictures, but had a feeling you`d do that on your own.I`m sure glad this area exists. Here we have you,an existing member, who had an early ride with no place to show it.I wonder how many more.I`m already thinking we need a "General Rods" sub-forum for members with cars, trucks, whatever make...

first of all, beautiful truck, nice color.

But I gotta ask, if it's a '35 tall cab, but almost everything on is changed and it's chopped, does that mean it isn't a '35 tall cab?:jest:

Yeah, we need more picture. Especuially of in progress pictures if you have them for us whose trucks are in progress!

Looks like it had a bed in the as-purchased condition. Was it running? Fill us in.

Re: This is my Baby

It`s now an open cab with a Carson top. (I guess it`s not exactly a Carson top,right?)
Nice job on that top.

That`s for everything non-GM truck:bird feeders,cars,other brand trucks,swing sets,home projects....I`m talking just rods.

Here are a couple shots of what I did to the rear suspension. Ford 9" with disc brakes. The frame is boxed and pinched in the rear.

The cab was a lot of work. I sectioned it 3" and widened the back 4". The windshield posts were straight up and down so cut them off , flatened the cowl out and made new posts, laid them back about 3 deg and chopped the windshield frame a little. All the wood in the cab had to go. I made the door frames and got them hung and used a chevy 4 dr roof for the skins. Compound curves both ways. The 1/2 solid stock made a good match to the original moulding.

Serious fabrication chops show in these pix. Congratualtions on being able to do that. Looks like excellent work all the way through.

Are you completely done? Do you have other trucks/car projects in the works?

Re: This is my Baby

Dan in Pasadina, Yes ,its pretty much done now. All I do now is wait for the rain to clear up and go crusin. I'm rebuilding a 72 chevy AC cab that needs a lot of work. About 1/2 done.

Thanks again for the kind words everybody. Heres a couple more shots of the box & cab. I had the box bent up at the local sheet metal shop. Its a little taller and wider so the rails flow into the cab mouldings. The only thing I used off the old box were the stake pockets. The original box looked like it had a Big Block rolling around in it for a few years. The back of the cab was widened 4"s and I had to add the moulding the same as I did on the doors.

Thanks for the look driveway. I haven't been back here for awhile. Very good forum. It seems like there is a lot of interest in this old tin.
