1988 suburban barn find!

2 Attachment(s)
I posted this in another thread but probably belongs here. I bought it from a salvage auction as a donation, clean title and one owner. It has 34k miles and in it was all original service invoices from dealer, pre delivery inspection, etc.

I'm restoring it as a daily driver and something to cruise the family around in summer. There was ZERO rust on the truck besides surface rust on hood and roof.

It was not running when I got it, fuel pump hoses deteriorated and valve stuck open. We cleaned tank and installed new pump, pulled throttle body and rebuilt it, got valve freed up and it runs extremely well. Here's a few early pics

Went with original white and started cleaning up bumpers, added roof rack, all new gaskets and we removed the big dealer installed Ramsey winch hidden under front bumper

Looks like something was living under the hood! And WOW, that turned out awesome.

There was a few dead mice under the hood lol, luckily no wires chewed in two or nest hidden inside.

We gutted the interior today to lay the dynomat and new carpet. It was really clean under everything. I'm gonna put the new LMC headliner in also

Figured we would go ahead and lay a good sound deadener underneath the new carpet

The carpet from LMC fits horrible! I restored an old Cherokee a couple of years ago and stock interiors.com carpet fit great and had heavy padding. I've heated it all day and stretched it to fit better.

I've used several types of sound deadening material before but this rattle trap stuff is nice and is cheaper. I'm lining the roof tomorrow then installing the headliner.

Very nice transformation. Glad to hear feedback about LMC carpet. Was going to order a carpet for my truck soon.

trimparts.com is where I got my carpet, it was great. I have heard good things about stockinteriors.com too.

I will give LMC credit though, the new headliner fit really well and looks great. Ill get some pics of it tomorrow. I fought with the door panels all day today.

I also put sound deadening on the roof to help with insulation and noise on the big roof skin.

It's coming along nicely!

Can you share some more info on the door panels?

Yes, I'll post some pics later. I overhauled them with new carpet and trim. I also put new switches in for power windows and locks

I've got all the door panels done. I used the velour LMC uppers and new carpeted lowers. I also installed new window and lock switches. The LMC felt doesn't fit well at all. After doing all these gaskets, window felts, and channels, the classic industries stuff was a lot nicer quality and fit much better.
