How Rare Are The 2WD???

How rare are they. I see lots of 4x4s but not too many 2wds. I have always wanted one but always stuck to the pickups. Does anyone have any numbers on productions?

Good Info

So If I find a 2wd jump on it? Are they worth more than 4x4s

Rare = $$$$$$ jump on it.

Re: How Rare Are The 2WD???

They are worth more than a 4wd as long as it is a factory 2wd. Check the vin and the frame to make sure it is a factory 2wd. It will have trailing arms rather than leaf springs in the rear.

Yeah, but the Jimmy's kind of the "red-headed stepchild".

Hmmm, ineresting. I did not know the production numbers were that low. I have one of the cheaper 2wd Chevrolet models completely rust free in my garage right now. I guess I will keep it.

I know where a junker CST 2wd is sitting. Pretty well stripped though.

Get the frame and the vin. You can do a body swap from a 4wd.

I already have one junker, don't think the wife will allow another or might be living in it. Daburb is going to take a look at it sometime.

Summer's coming. At least it will be warm enough to live in it.

that's a good way to look at it. You'll be kicking yourself later for not grabbing it. If all else fails just turn it for some cash.

Re: How Rare Are The 2WD???

You guys are sure a help. Are either of you divorce lawyers trolling for future clients?

I have my 71 in my side of the garage, where it will stay. The other stall my wife graciously gives up for the warmer seasons for home improvement projects, the riding lawn mower, the kids bikes and other misc. stuff, and for room for me to work. She will not tolerate a junker in the yard. The driveway is where we park my company car and her suburban. The city won't allow it either. I don't have a pad to park anything and have to mow around and under whatever is there. I was lucky to come across a guy who was forced into an early retirement and uses his time to build his dream cars. He has a shop with room near by for me to haul my Jimmy to and store until I can justify sticking more cash and time into it.

There is a letter in hot rod this month that sums up my feelings rather well. It says "After all these years, I still get as excited as a kid at Christmas when I spot a vintage car rusting away somewhere and spend the next few hours thinking about what it could becomein the right hands. Without guidance from my wife, I would have my entire 2 acres covered with them. She says I should check myself in to the Henry Ford Clinic for motor oil dependancy."

You're not alone. I know I can't have them all (or anymore for that matter) so I try to live vicariously through those that can get more...

Re: How Rare Are The 2WD???

My goal is to have one of each eventually :D
