Fuel Pump
1 Attachment(s)
I relocated my gas tank to the rear of my 1972 and my question is what fuel pump should I use? I have quadrajet carb with a 350 engine that has the engine mounted mechanical fuel pump on it. Do I delete the mechanical one and add the electric fuel pump? Here is the one that I saw today but I did not know if it would work or not.

Re: Fuel Pump
The Blazers and Suburbans use a mechanical pump to pull fuel from the rear. I don't see any reason you need to change yours if it's working.

Re: Fuel Pump
It was working fine when the tank was behind the seat. I just figured that it being farther away it may need a boost? If the mechanical one will work I will keep it that way. Thanks for the reply.

Re: Fuel Pump
I used a Holley Red electric fuel pump on my '67 K/10 Suburban w/454. It worked real good, until a carb fire started in the engine bay. I did not think the Holley recommended oil pressure threshold cut-off switch was necessary. I was wrong. The electric pump still kept pumping, making things worse. Some guys with fire extinguishers helped knock it out. My other mistake was reporting it as a claim on my insurance. They ''totalled'' the truck. I got peanuts and Suburban with a salvage title.

Re: Fuel Pump
Your mechanical pump will work fine as it is. No need to do anything at all.
