1964 C30 , Another Alaskan Camper !

1964 C30 9 foot Stepside, factory 327 4 speed no spin rear with a Watson overdrive. PS, PB, AC AM Radio, both arm rests, gauges , 2 speed wipers, Z62 Comfort option, tinted glass, window washers, back up lights , two tone Fawn and White, and another Alaskan camper. 33,000 mile Colorado truck. Whats interesting , to me anyway , is all the factory options for a C30 truck plus what I had a hard time believing over the phone , was a 327 . Been sitting since 1998 in a barn in Indiana. Just brought it home yesterday . A big shout out to Wally , 63Suburban for linking me to this very interesting truck !! Let the clean up begin.

Very neat truck!! Great options and the 327 is very interesting.
The only C30 stepside with air conditioning I have ever seen.

Does it have a build sheet or dealer paper work?

Some very interesting features.
Try to get some pictures of the outer window vertical sweepers or felt. :)

Geez, what are the odds? Back to back low mile Chevy/ Alaskan camping rigs! Someone is on a lucky streak!
If it were me, I'd still be happily poking around on the first one, so I kinda feel sorry that you have projects piling up on you. Then again, most of us would gladly suffer this kind of misfortune! lol!

Very nice score. The 327 and the factory A/C, I didn't think were available in a '64. Were those rear fenders shortened at one time? The wheelwell to front of fender doesn't look right to me.

That's awesome. Would love to see some interior pics of the camper! Congrats, that's really nice. Did I miss something - this is the SECOND Alaskan in recent history?? I gotta keep up on things.

That photo of the "no-spin" unit looks remarkably like a differential locker being marketed today called Powertrax.

Im going to get to all that real quick. Today I scored some very cool info I will share. Also , 1965 seems to be the first year on build sheets and protecto plates. What I did get is the "Customer Purchase Order" and a bunch of neat books I will post.

Me either but that info is coming ! Yes , the owner of this truck did many things I never would have expected or done to alter the truck. The worst being , He opened up both front edges of the wheel opening and cut into the running board, my only guess was for clearance of the monster snow tire on the back ? Plus added a spare tire holder in one running board.

Heres some details on the engine. I looked in every book I have , nothing is in the books for the engine suffix UC that I could find, the ONLY book listing anything starting with a U is the Big truck parts book , every code except UC. So I starting looking at everything in the way of dates. The purchase order is date 2-24-1964 , so I looked at the engines build date , 3-12-64 on the front pad. Made sense . The Carburetor date and number all showed up as for 327 1964 in the GM parts book. Intake dated C-12-4 or 3-12-1964. Spark plug wires dated etc. GM part numbers on all the fan belts. Pay special attention to the head markings on the front , looks like twin towers , that marking is truck and passenger car 327 according to the book Chevrolet by the numbers.

So Im stumped , what is UC ? Brain storming this AM I emailed a friend who I knew had a LOT of factory Flint documents. Just amazed me when he said , okay , I will get my "Master Suffix Code" book out. Which is actually sheets of paper in files from the Flint engine assembly plant with ALL the codes and what components by part number each engine came with explained by the engines suffix codes etc. UC is heavy duty 327 Truck. It shows the head markings on the papers , WITH "green" written in the middle for engine color.

They must have pulled the engine from the big truck line. Has the same heads as our 64 c60 327 motor.
You need to message aotte1. Me and him were just talking about the 327 being available in a 64 c20.

Ya know just thinking about that invoice, that price was rather steep for the times! Most folks didn't make $4k a year back then. Awesome find and cool documentation!
