Shock absorbers seem too short?

In trying to bolt my shocks up today they seem too short! They are close but I cant get the bottom bolts in.

Could it be that because I have no weight on the frame, that is no engine, transmission or body that that is the reason why?

It easily looks that on the front anyway that with the weight of the engine and transmission in that I would be able to get them installed.

The shocks came with the Belltech lowering kit I bought some time ago.

Any thoughts?

You dont say whether front or back, but hard to judge shock length without full curb weight on the vehicle. I am using MII suspension on the front of my 50 and shocks would not even come close in the front with out the engine. Also had to clamp up the rear to get the shocks on without the bed one there

It's actually both front and back!

They are all really close and with a bit of weight I bet they would be fine.

Thanks that is what I thought after looking at it for a while.

I also noticed that with no engine and transmission the upper control arm rubber is sitting right on the large cross member. With weight I am sure it would sit right in the middle of the upper and lower control arms and their respective rubbers!

Guess I better get back on the cab.

We, meaning the wife and myself, have decided that I will not be getting the engine and transmission until about this time next year. We are planning a cross North America road trip with fifth wheel in August to visit our daughter in NFLD.

Should give me lots of time to get cab sorted including the doors that have lots of work left. As well the million other things to do...

with my mustII front end the springs were fully extended with the cab, motor and trans in
not until the glass, interior, bumper, 98% completion did truk come down
even then truk took a year of driving to settle in to it's current ride height
