New M1009

Picked this little baby up this morning. 29 Degrees & popped right off & runs perfect! Shows 1900 miles on the odo meter! Not a dent or any rust!
But don't think Bubba aint been here- the whole truck is sprayed with some kinda Gray Trunk Spatter Paint!:waah:
Oh well that's what they make 80 grit for!

Looks sweet. I've had 3 of these (still have one) and feel they are great rigs. Are you going to go green or desert tan?

Re: New M1009

Oh Green all the way!
I spent four yrs in Afghanistan, I've seen enough Tan to last several lifetimes!

Congrats, looks good! I've got one I bought back in 2010, they're fun toys to have. Looks like yours came with a 3 or 4" lift.

Re: New M1009

I'm on the look out for a receiver hitch. Does the K5 take the same hitch as the C10s & the K10s? That tank sure hangs down low...

Re: New M1009

I put a Reese on mine, it was listed as for a K5 but I'm almost positive it's the same for trucks and burbs. It hangs down as low as the tank skid plate, maybe a little lower, but it's completely behind the tank.

Nice find, I'd have to have A/C put in for South Louisiana.

Also thank you for your service Andy.:metal:

Oh I wasn't Military, I was a Field Support Rep for Navistar Defense for the MaxxPro line of MRAPs. I helped the Army kids learn to operate their MRAPs, helped repair them, installed the L-Rod & Volleyball net armor systems, hid under them while under attack...;)

Re: New M1009

The hitch for a burb is longer.
The rear section behind the tanks are different.
It can be modded to fit.

Ha! I used to overhaul boats at Ingalls East Bank back in the 70s. Worked Radiation Control, Main Engine Crew.
Others in the yard called us "Nukey Spooks"

Re: New M1009

Hey I had my M1009 parked in front of my fav place to sit, the porch swing when I noticed something. I think the right side axle tube is bent up some. Looks like about an inch or so.
Around the center right side of housing is wet.
Question is are the 2wd axle housings the same width as the 4wd housings?
Of all the things I've done I've never used a 2wd housing in a 4wd truck. I have a couple under some 2wd parts trucks I can use if they are the same.
Be a good time to install that c-clip eliminator I got up in the barn.
Thanks!

Re: New M1009

Not sure about the housing's but the axles are different. the 4wd is 6 lug, 2wd is 5. but they should swap out.

Re: New M1009

To my knowledge, the width's are the same and you should be able to swap out axles like Zook mentioned.
