Thanks everyone.

I started out today fixing the small spots I talked about in my previous post. I couldnt let them go, and after some guidance from Barry with SPI I felt confident in getting them shaped up. After those were sanded and spotted in everything sat for a couple hours then I went to clear. My clear went pretty good for only being my second time spraying clear. I learned alot and by my last coat things were flowing out pretty decent, a good cut and buff and I think it will look real nice, to be fair the pictures look better than in person.

Im beyond thrilled with how the old gas cap filled in, I have alot of time in that one area trying to get that to look good.

Thank you.

Doing a little sanding and buffing today. I sprayed a little far from the panel so I had a little bit too much orange peel.

A little before and after

Man, I’m loving this color

How’s the fit on the Speed Engineering headers? Specifically, how much hang down below the framerails?

^^^ I would like to know this too, I’m unsure if I want to keep the hooker manifolds I currently have or run some 1 7/8” full length headers!

I couldn't have picked a better color. Its so hard to pick the right one but I ended up with exactly what I wanted.

There is a good thread on the headers here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=746414

I have some info on page 1, and most of what your looking for is on page 2. Side shots below the frame and block clearance. Let me know if you want any other info or measurements.

That helps a lot, thanks! 4L60E, right? Looks like a stepped, deep pan. Hard to tell, but it looks like your trans pan hangs below the framerails a little and the collectors a little below that. How much lower?

Thanks a lot for checking into this. Looks like about 3/4” hang down from what I can tell in pictures

Im going to try and remember tomorrow. Ive been down to the shop twice now and end up getting side tracked and remember about it when I get home.

They hang down about 1.5 inches and are about level with my transmission pan.

I ended up sanding my clear and spraying 3 more coats. I had too much texture in too many spots I didnt want to buff, especially inside the cab. It was alot of work but it came out great, couple runs to level and some denibbing and it will be real slick. These are right off the gun, it looks as good in person now as it does in the pictures.

Also sprayed a bunch of under hood and dash items in epoxy.

Not much happening lately, been spending alot of time cutting and buffing. It took me awhile to find a set of steps that worked for me and I finally got it down today. All the outside of the cab is done except for the rockers, and one weird spot where I had a run. I have some de-nibbing to finish on the inside, Im about half done, and then buff it and it will be ready to mount to the frame.

Ive got quite a few things to knock out before I mount the cab, exhaust, fuel lines, plug wires, transmission cooling lines, as well as some other odds and ends that will be easier to do with it off.

Ran across this a couple weeks ago, a fun little before and after. One of the best decisions I have made is to smooth the firewall.

Thank you.

I think Im going to work on exhaust this weekend for a change of scenery. It will be nice to work on something other than this cab for a change. I have almost two weeks of time off from work to use by the end of February, so Im hoping to make some good headway this next month.
