Any ideas how to keep people from driving on my lawn?
3 Attachment(s)
It does not happen too often. I live down a private dead end dirt road. I'm the last house. There is a turn-a-round prior to my property that trucks back into to turn around. Every now and then some dumba$$ drives on my lawn. I've also caught the mailman & DHL driver (Yep DHL driver, twice) driving on the grass. Last night I noticed it happened again. The problem is that under the grass is my drain field. Now I feel I need to put up a barrier to keep cars off. The lawn is about 120' long. I'd like to find some 3" rope and build a rope fence. I can't find any surplus rope. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. I understand ship mooring lines have a short life and need replacement frequently. Anyone know where to get this stuff? Any other ideas? I've thought about boulders, but that would require a tractor and dump truck. A lot of nasty ideas have crossed my mind too, but thats not an option.
Decided to toss in a pic of the pond I built. Almost ready for some fish. |
Re: Any ideas how to keep people from driving on my lawn?
I was thinking some trees but the drain field kind of kills that.
Maybe some strategically placed railroad ties (planted vertical of course). |
Re: Any ideas how to keep people from driving on my lawn?
I use old trucks as a border and have no problems with cut-throughers.
For a higher class solution,if you`re into that type of thing,you could put up a simple fence.More like a gaurd rail.Like in a park.A low-lying timber-type with short posts. |

What about a simple split rail fence?

Re: Any ideas how to keep people from driving on my lawn?
When I was a wee lad of a boy, we had an alley that ran from our street to the next one over.
We had a neighbor, who shall be respectively referred to as Mr. Buttmunch To access his driveway, he had to turn left, into the alley off the street next to our house. He invariably thought it was funnier that sh.., all get out, to cut the corner short and drive across a portion of our back yard. I'm not exaggerating, my dad put a BIG ROCK about 2 1/2'-3' in diameter at that corner. That stopped that problem. After Mr. Buttmunch drove to the end of his driveway, he had to make a hard, right, 90 degree turn to get into his garage. To get out of his garage, he would simply back out of his garage, & into our yard; so he could make a right turn to go out his driveway to the alley. My dad put a 1/2 dozen, or so, 4" "crash poles" in our yard, directly opposite his garage. "Have fun backing all the way out, Mr. BM. Especially in the slippery, slidy snow." I hope these 2 little ideas may have helped you. |

I have the same problem with my side lawn. I have thought about railroad ties but my luck would be someone get hurt and I would get sued. Im too broke to install fencing right now :(

I used to work for a contractor. I was always amazed how simplex nails almost always landed pointy end up. Too big of a liability though

If you put nails in your yard & somebody chooses to drive over them, that would be their problem, not yours. They're not supposed to be driving there. |
Re: Any ideas how to keep people from driving on my lawn?
Because if someone gets hurt on your property, you are liable.Even with no tresspassing signs I bet
|
Re: Any ideas how to keep people from driving on my lawn?
Maybe put up a sign? That would be my 1st action. Then if they continue to lawnpass, they are fair game.

Try some old drive-in theatre entry spikes. These guys will remember to not do this the second time.

If you dug your own pond then this little moat shouldn't be that hard!
I like my split rail fence, but it's in my back yard... |
