Wiring Diagram Check

2 Attachment(s)
Hello all,

I am building a 53 pickup with a 5.3 & Muncie M20. The truck has no wiring what so ever - but that is OK with me. I am fairly knowledgeable in automotive electronics but it would be nice to get some input.

I have created a couple schematics - one of the truck and a more detailed one of the fuse & relay panel I plan to build.

If someone had a couple minutes and look them over I would be very grateful. I hope it is not too much of a mess. I did leave out all wiring for the engine harness as it is mostly self contained.

Well I see you've had some views but no replies. I have been looking at the diagrams and mostly they look good to me. I do have a couple of questions though.

It appears to me that you have the headlights, both hi and low, wired so that when you apply power to either one the other set will light. Did you intend for all four lights to come on in hi beams? You probably want an indicator for hi beams in the dash as well. I'll have to go back and look at how that's wired.

I assume you have the sensors in the engine harness for the ECU

The hazards are normally wired through the turn signal switch, are you planning on using a steering column with the TS as normal or are you going to use an aftermarket?
Using the brake switch circuit would work off the hazard flasher but you will have to power each light individually or they will work together when L or R turn is selected. I can't tell how you have that wired.

I'll look at the PDFs again a few times and see if I can sort that out. It is a nice looking schematic BTW.

Thanks for the response, I figured this might not get as many replies as my other questions - wiring is not as fun to everyone...

I need to use one light with both high & low but wanted to represent it as two lights on the diagram - more of a headlight assemble - but didn't split them out as I should. The indicator is a great idea, ill incorporate it into all of this.

Yes, I have all of the engine harness & sensors lined out. It was pretty straight forward after I slimmed down the stock harness.

I can't really believe I forgot the turn signal - I'll probably get an aftermarket steering column with a GM type signal. I've seen some posts about using a trailer signal bow, or some other aftermarket system to cancel out brakes while signaling.

Thanks a lot for the input, I'm sure it will help a lot. I used TinyCAD, it a free program.
