Need help with th400 pump rebuild

1 Attachment(s)
So far the th400 rebuild has been going well other than getting the clutches lined up when putting everything together. I am to the pump rebuild and have ran into a new issue. I cannot get the valve/sleeve/spring out despite removing the clip (the picture explains what I am trying to explain). I can push it all in, so it is not stuck, but when it gets to the c-clip indention it won't move.

Any ideas?

Are you saying you can not get the valve out of the bore ?

Correct. I cannot get it past the groove the clip sits in.

Push the plunger down with a phillps screw driver and take a small sharp knife and run it around the edge where the snap ring pushes against. Probably just a small lip that won't allow the piston to pass by. OR you can keep bouncing the piston till it clears itself.

I will definately do that. I'm sure it is a simple fix but it sure had me perplexed.

Got it! I removed the roll pin on other end and removed the cap there. Then used a long screwdriver and tapped the stuck part out. I will clean any/all burrs out before reinstallation.

Make sure that roll pin doesnt fall out when you put the two halves together of the pump, glad you got it figured out....GOOD LUCK !!!!
