How to recess a stepside fender?
I put dual tanks on my 1974 k10 stepside and the drivers side fender doesn't have the recessed area around the filler neck.
How does one go about doing that? |
Re: How to recess a stepside fender?
Does your pass fender have the flip open door..?
Was it factory to have dual tanks on a stepside? If not ,youll just about need a donor fender to cut that section out and weld in the whole piece in your driver fender Pictures would help |
Re: How to recess a stepside fender?
I have dual tanks on my 79 stepside. Had to replace the fenders, and only one side has the door. Went to the junk yard and cut the door assembly out of a fleetside and welded it in on the other side. Was able to get the internal from I think Classic Parts of America. I might have another door hole, but not the door, I think you can get the door online. Let me know if your interested and I will look.

The 1974 doesn't have a door just a cap.
I can cut the filler neck hole with a holesaw I just want the shallow recess so both sides look even. |
Re: How to recess a stepside fender?
two (2) options,
1) find a donor fender and cut it out. 2) get a piece of sheet metal, cut the hole and make a wooden stamp. Press the sheet metal in a vise, or a press, weld it in. A little tricky, but an option. |
